don't know if it is comon but mine looks like sealant around clutch housing to engine surface & got a cover over clutch rod area so can't say ever had this problem but yeah a mate done what 97_gq_lwb said & it worked after couple of sharp potholes must have done the trick as its been 6 mnths & his is still working...
If it doesn't try a lever or worst situation drop the box n put very small amount of antiseize around the throwout bearing slide area
