Gq Auto and Manual Ecu Compatability

Gday all wise ones, My young bloke is having an issue with his ecu in his GQ and we have been told that the auto and man ecu's are different, now as far as the part no's go that is fact but my question is, are they compatible even if they are different part no's, The reason I ask this is in my workshop manual the wiring diagrams are the same for both auto and man and we have found a man one for sale but are having trouble tracking down an auto one. Anyone have an answer for this and we'll be forever grateful.

Hi mate I have asked the same question on here before http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...-they-the-same

    Unfortunately never got an answer.

Even if the wiring is the same one would believe the programming inside the ECU's would be different. Maybe you could get a manual one reprogrammed???

I know it would cost a far bit more, but rather wasting time sourcing a s/hand original ECU I would just go for an aftermarket ECU anyway.

I will look into it a bit more 4 you later, got 2 deal with the feral kids right now!

    Cheers

    Todd

Glen I just ran this past Yendor one of the Auto elecs on here & like me he's not absolutely 100% sure but he did suggest running your question via Garry from Nizzbits: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...-Nizzbits-(vic)

He's a really top bloke & if he can help he will so I'd run your question past him mate.

Yeah I sent an email to Garry from NIZZBITS and apparently the auto and man are different and a new one from Japan is $1350, I don't know if I can get an aftermarket one for less that will run off the original wiring harness, hmmm, decisions, decisions.

The other thing you could try is getting your old ECU tested/possible repaired.

A quick google search brought up a few

This one seems ok, but they are in VIC.

1350 for a new one, I could get a complete GQ wreck for that, well nearly that!

Software in the Eproms is different. Running an Auto one in a Man car you might get away with.
ECU needs to have the Eprom cut out and socketed. You then need a new Eprom installed with correct Auto or Manual Software. Eproms can be read via aldl plug if you have the right gear...... trying to remember what I used.

I have the eprom bin files for auto and manual if you need one and a programmer and flash eproms you can use as a replacement.
