TD42 Turbo making a whoosh sound?

    G'Day All

Someone might know whats doing with my troll, i have only owned it for about a month now and am loving it, however, she is making a whoosh sound "kinda like a blow off valve" between gear changes.

Ive never really noticed any other turbo TD42's do this so am wondering if i may have something wrong?

She runs a 3+" dump pipe to a 3" zorst which is cut off about half way under the truck "temp". sounds tough as with the whistle and the whoosh between gear changes so if its not broken no point fixing hahaha.

Other info bout the rig is it is meant to be a ARB Turbo kit and is running a front mount I/C. Has a massive hair dryer bolted to it but the last owner said it has a economy tune.

Anything i should be stressed about?

It might be the waste gate releasing pressure.
If it is that, then it is perfectly normal

hi there new to the forum check all hose claps on turbo intake hoses could be loose or theres a rip or hole or may have been pierced has it got an inter cooler if so side tanks can crack & dump pressure out which can cause the sound

Thanks for the reply's guys. The noise my rig makes is kinda simmilar to that ute above but more of a whoosh. Maybe i do have an air leak somewhere. Ill check all the piping for the turbo and intercooler on the weekend while im fitting up my pyro and boost guages.

I have been suspecting a leak on the base of the turbo where the intercooler piping runs as it has a bit of oil around it like its leaking from the hose? maybe this is where it is.

wooshing noise when backing off is perfectly normal. when not running a blow off valve. built up pressure can go back through the turbo and out of the intake causing this noise.

And different turbos, setups, etc will give you a different noise.
