Not really.
I suggest you go and see a vehicle examiner and ask the question. If I had access to a tint meter, I'd help you but I don't. lol
If you look on the State Law Publisher's website, then go into the Regulations currently in force, you might find the Vehicle Standards Regulations and it should help you in there.

some tint coy's put an identifying label somewhere on the window - if so, go and ask armed with that info
Todd, up here Mate, your GPS is not allowed to be placed in the perifieral vision(I think that's how it's spelt) as to bloke vision, they are suggesting placing off windscreen altogether. And BTW any modification that impair your vision is illegal if you ever get inspected by a Transport Officer. Pods are not meant to impair your vision, nor are mirrors.

X2 - and spotlights top mounted on bullbars, and bonnet protrusions (yes, scoops included when aftermarket).
And I'm pretty sure they'll be banning those pesky little black sticks on the front of the windscreen that have those rubber bits attached to them ... you know the ones ... they go back and forth across the windshield when it rains and block your vision ... what are they called again??!! lmao
I'm actually an advocate for some of this - pods, gauges, gps's, etc I think are hard to include so long as they are dash mounted, as you'd have to be three feet tall for them to impair outward vision as such, but top mounted spotties, dark window tinting (which I have), stickers, etc that do impair vision are probably (I say "probably") worth a look into ... that all said, I still think it's all to over regulated and common sense 'should' prevail, but unlike the phrase (common sense) unfortunately it is not all that common, and subsequently we get stung with varying degrees of compliance/legislation that are put in place under the veil of "public safety".
I still a firm believer that if you want to enforce compliance, the ability for police and transport officers to assess vehicles on the fly, on the road, needs to be clarified and singular - that is, one range of policy nationally that is easy for road users AND compliance enforcement officers to understand, with appropriate on the spot fines for breach (when I say 'appropriate' I mean 'large' - if it affects the back pocket hard enough, most people would find they have some common sense after all ...). Lack of common sense, very generally speaking, is simply symptomatic of a system that allows too much interpretation.
Remove the interpretation, increase the penalty, and I'd bet my left one that you'd see a remarkable increase in 'self compliance' and so called common sense as people clearly know the limits, and clearly know the corresponding consequences. But I think we are so far away from something like this, that unfortunately poor old 'common sense' will continue to take the blame.

Moble Phone Holder or Driver Aids (GPS etc) IF they block any part of the drivers vision - yep, illegal

but what defines blocking a drivers vision anyway?, I can install a head-up display (HUD) which in all fairness doesn't block my vision so 2 speak, but just like factory gauges..........still makes you take your eyes off the road and they are legal and on the windscreen.

Like many rules it is very subjective but loosely stated, if the offending object is...
wider than the A pillar, or
protrudes above the bonnet eyeline (certain specific exemptions for radio antenna's), or
is attached, even temporarily, to the windscreen in the field of view, or
hangs from the roof or mirror (other than an appropriate rear view mirror), or
is a tint, sticker or whatever that is more than 10% of the upper band, or
is in such a position that it may distract the driver even if it does not impede his view then it is a 'naughty'.
Obviously 99% of that gets totally ignored unless one tends to get obnoxious with Johnny Law when he wants you to blow on his chips...but tint, 'in ya face' 7 inch gauge pods and spotties or rod holders on top of Bull Bars have been known to get blitzed from time to time.
Personally I'd rather they come and park at any one of the sets of Traffic Lights I use going to work and book those total rrsewipes who run the Reds. They would get 2 or 3 every single light change over here and WA has the longest "yellow" of all the States. Then, maybe that encourages them rather than making it safer.
