I was having a look last night and pushed on the belt to see if the tensioner was moving freely which it was, the screeching has since stopped. im thinking that something had jammed in and fallen out when i flexed the tensioner. I love easy fixes. I will have to have a proper look at the bushes though as Ynot suggested.
