Rear Main Seal

Hi all,

Have found out my oil leak is most probably the rear main seal.

Has anyone done this job at home or is it too big a job, do you need any special tools etc......

If it is too big does anyone know how much it would cost to get done professionally and does anyone recommend a mechanic near the south eastern burbs of Sydney.

Replacing the rear main seal is the easy part its getting to it thats the hard part.
If I was to do it I would pull out the motor to get to it just because I find it easier than dropping the gearbox.
What engine have you got ?

I've got the same issue Biff, at the moment I just keep whacking oil in it.

Had the same problem a few months ago, and did exactly the same as - kept whacking oil into it. Ended up p*ssing oil all over the clutch and had to replace both at the same time.
