I looked at that route, and what you say is true, and i was tempted, but what i surmised from walking that line, made it a big risk if you didnt make it first go, the rocks in that area seemed very slippery under foot with all that dust, and not making it up and over in one shot would mean the posibility or sliding sideways off line.

Looking at the size/depth and angle of the rock formed hole you had to straddle, the prospect of falling into it ,would certainly result in major damage or even a rollover, so with no locker, and on only 32 inch A/Ts ,the other way appeared the safer option if you got into trouble.
You did fine mate - considering the mindset has to be taken into account from not making it the first day, you gave it just a few too many berries which got you out of shape for the approach to the second run of rocks. Certainly nothing to be upset about (except the damage of course!!) but you assessed it, you drove it, and you made it ... through all that, you learned something invaluable and quite frankly, as a group, we were all proud as punch for you, as most would have walked away just on the concept of not having made it the day before - you didn't on a calculated decision and made it through. Give yourself a pat on the back mate and again, aside from the damage which was just a freak thing, you are that much more aware of the truck and what you need to give it in future to tackle stuff .. I personally think that the only people who were skirts on that hill were me and Dave - we went through with all the goodies and then watch whilst you guys have to pound your rigs to do the same thing ...
