Buying a new Nissan Patrol 4.2 Turbo Diesel engine

I want to put a new 4.2 Diesel Turbo engine into my 4.8 Petrol Automatic Patrol. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how do I go about sourcing all the relevant information?

I don't think the TD42 was ever fitted up to the 5 speed auto so I don't know how easily it would adapt. Talk to Marks adaptors or send them a PM - they have a thread in our vendors section. It might be easier to go back to a 4 speed auto but you will need to find one that was originally fitted to a TD42 to get the right bell housing and torque converter.
Fitting the engine itself won't be too difficult but you will probably need an electroncally controlled TD42Ti to comply with the emmission laws relevent to the build date of your vehicle. This means that you will also need the wiring loom and computer. Other bits and pieces you will need include diesel fuel filler, fuel pick ups for both tanks, fuel filters, lift pump etc. Fuel line may need to be replaced.

It can be done but it will be a big expensive job.
