Returning member. Used to be on this forum back when I had a 2002 3L auto wagon. My background is as an electronics field tech but I have some experience in mechanical maintenance aswell. Had a bit of an illness for a several years, was too unwell to keep up the maintenance anymore so sold her and bought a new 2019 D-Max. Served me well, runs like a sewing machine but I felt like it just didn't have that spark in it.
Had a bit of a crashout about new technology last month (everyone at my work is sending AI generated emails, my D-Max went into Limp Mode for an overboost that may have just been a momentary sensor error and I would have been stuck if I hadn't had a debug tool on me to clear it.)
...So I decided to do something radical and look for a TD42 Ute. Workmate convinced me to buy a cheaper one and fix it myself. Best advice. I bought a 2005 4.2L ute (DX). Engine has been very looked after but the rest of her is in a bit of a state. I'm a bit older and more experienced than when I had my wagon and I've been loving getting stuck in and learning how to do repairs I never would have attempted back on my old wagon. Will post the project details and pics when I get a chance.
This one definitely has the spark I've been missing
