Thoughts on curved light bars

I was up at TJM yesterday talking about light bars and seems the 10 watt cree single row
throw a beam about 900mtrs up the road well thats what they say,

Sadly the 240 watt bar is 52" long, the 200 watt is 45" , and the 160 watt is 37"

pls excuse the snips...

My 240 watt (24 x 10 watt Cree) 30 deg Spot Single Row Bar is just over 38 inch's long and fits perfectly flush under the roof rack with about 10mm clearance to the roof at the middle.

I can't see objects smaller than a house or a road train 900 metres away at night.
If TJM mean cats eye reflectors, signage etc then I would agree, they def show up that far out.
IMHO the 'useful max range' is about 400 metres.
At that distance you can start to recognize larger animals, scrub, road verge, etc
At about 200 metres you can pretty reliably pick up the difference between a Roo and a small shrub

Note... roof mounted bars (beside being illegal) REALLY piss off truckies, other road users etc when coming at you at night when they crest a hill etc.
The Bar light is so "white" it means you don't see the loom of their vehicle until after their headlights appear

I am considering a 390 watt (78 x 5 Watt) twin row '36 inch with the 10 deg/40 deg combo lens to replace my HID spotties on my Bull Bar.

Only catch is the significantly large current draw.

That would mean I have my "Highway Bar" on the Bull bar, legal and narrow beam
and
My "Off road Bar" would stay on the rack which is the best possie by far for the bush and I can put a cover on it to keep Mr Plod happy if he gets cranky
