Went for a drive today into the Turon NP

Hi all well another great day.

Today started with a group of like inded people meeting at Mullion creek heading off to long point crossing. Once we reached Long Point the crossing, we realised that the river was up so we sent the Hilux in first to check the depth. It seemed ok even though it was running pretty hard. We decided to tackled it and did so with no problems. We then headed out to Hill End and stopped for a cuppa there and got some suasage sandwiches from the street stall.
After our little break we headed to Sofala and then down the Upper Turon RD were there was plenty of fun crossing the Turon river as we went, many of the crossings were up and flowing well.
We then went onto the Turon Gates road, there was a great deal of traffic on this road, which was very surprising, as well as a bit of mud, the going was slow so it took a while to get to the Capertee end.
As it was very wet, we went to the park in Capertee and had a BBQ under the shelter.
We then backtracked a little bit and headed to the Turon River NP and it proved entertaining with deep river crossing and plenty of slimy muddy trails. Some of the crossings with soft gravel bottoms and fast flowing water, but the Trol didn't let me down. We headed to Sunny Corner Via the Pinnacle Fire Trail which was a interesting drive as none of us had been that way before, after driving along many ridges for about an hour we ended up coming out at Darks Corner, then onto Sunny Corner. Once reaching Sunny Corner we headed to Bathurst for a well deserved Cuppa and McDonalds.

There were plenty of camping spots along the track and this will be a trip that will go on the list for a must do again trip.

    Cheers
