Strange. I never have logged in on any of my pc's or laptops and i alway s are the admin, not under a user name.
I think it just boils down to the user being more careful. And not just clicking yes to anything that comes up when you install something.
Everytime i go to my dads place, i check his browser and he's missing half the browser screen to extra search bars etc etc. I told him the prOn site to use which are safe. Maybe he's into different stuff. Lol

It hogs CPU usage, disk read writes and RAM. In other words it just hogs ALL your system resources and leaves you with a pittance of what you had

If you log in via a user you will always get a dialog box come up to ask you if you want something installed. If something like this pops up and you are not installing anything then you know there is something trying to get admin privileges and install on your system - not good!

If you dont log on when you first turn on your PC then this is even worse again!
I enter a password each time I crank it up, but don't think I log in as an administrator or admin. Stand by, I'll restart and let you know what it asks me.

100% mate. I won't suggest any anti virus, the only one I've had anything to do with is avg, it's not bad it's installed on all pcs at a shop who's network I manage but I don't have anything to compare it to all I can say is it's light weight and doesn't interfere to much with the daily functioning of your computer

If you wanna know if your administrator, when you're logged in press the Windows key + r then type netplwiz, next to your user name it should tell you your account type. If you wanna to make a non admin account you can also do that there

    Windows 8.1.

I've been hesitant to update to Windows 10. I get pop up reminders all the time so should I? Worried about information loss. I consider myself as a bit of an IT nuffy. In reality I probably have a moderate understanding of computers but when it comes to the nitty gritty my eyes glaze over. Many people on here have a far superior understanding of the technical stuff than I do.

    Does that work pre-Win7?
