The one winning for me atm is find a nice big tree, snatch it up and drive away lol.(removing the ball that is)
But somethings telling me that's probably not the best approach to this task lol.
Personally I wouldn't be doing this. Imagine if it lets go when under full tension it would be just like a snatched towball would be. A deadly missile.

Remove the entire towbar, sit it upright with the tongue upwards and get some either hydrochloric acid, or phosphoric acid and pour it down inbetween the tongue and housing. Let it soak over night and try hitting with a sledgy or something. The acid will oxidise the rust. If you don't have those acids, you can use Coke, it also has phosphoric acid in it. Lol. And we drink this stuff. Albeit diluted...
I have both acids here if you need some. I live in Mill Park so...

best thing i found is about 2 weeks of penetrene and a sledge hammer side to side every time you squirt it to get the build up of mud dirt and sand loose then it will come but as hodge said long tedious process.

Yeah. That was y I wasn't going to do that one. Just sounded good at the time I was trying to avoid removing tow bar, but I probably should to give it a full clean up as it's got a little surface rust showing. That initial laziness kicking in. But It will defiantly keep me busy for a bit lol. I'll probably pull off and try with a better angle and a sledgie and some coke to start with, Hodge's seemed to blow at that. So I'll work my way backwards from his methods

Lashed out and spend $99 on a Thumper air compressor. At only $99 if it spits the dummy in three month, no big loss.

A hours work. Can of coke, can of WD40, crowbar and my trusty hammer.
Soaked it in for 20 mins with half can coke and lots of wd40,
Leverage from the top with crow bar, big swings at the bottom with hammer, every few huts a little more lube, and away she went.

Best part was I didn't have to remove from the car
