4.2 TD DTS Aftermarket Kit Air Filter Question

    Hi,

I have a 92 Patrol with a 4.2 that has had a DTS Kit fitted by a previous Owner.

It has the annoying habit of breaking the air filter brackets on the exhaust and inlet manifolds that support the Air Filter Cast Alu can.

The Casing wobbles and vibrates quite a bit at idle to 1000/1050 rpm and is then smooth all the way to full nana. I tried to up the idle a bit but obviously can't crank it up all the way till its smooth.

Has anyone else encountered these problems or does anyone have an idea what sort of separate filter assy I could mount under the bonnet even if I have to move the coolant expansion tank a bit to achieve this.

The wagon has a Charge Air Cooler where the condenser for the AC used to be and a snorkel.

Thanks in advance for your replies/advice.

A airbox out of a gu patrol would benefit you mate. Get one out of a 4.2turbo and 3.0turbo diesel.

    Where are you located mate?

Your best bet would be to just trawl forums, eBay and gum tree etc.

    Hi,

    Thanks,

I am located in Germany at mo as I am at work, My Nissan is at home in Northland NZ in my garage.

I have a mate on the Gold Coast who will chase this up for me and has asked me if I have any idea of the part number

Should I just ask him to find a complete can/ hoses etc off a 4.2 Turbo GU Patrol?

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    Hi,

Would any member who has a Patrol with the afore mentioned Nissan Air Filter Can installed please be so kind as to post a pic or two of it.

I am baffled by some of the answers from wreckers in both Aus and NZ when asking what they have so if I have a photo to send it will just be a case of- Does it look like this?

Patroldocta.com did not have the courtesy to respond to my e mail so far.

    Hi,

Is that the complete can to mount on the LH Inner Guard of my Patrol so the snorkel goes on one side and other to Turbo compressor?
