    Poor acceleration until 3000 RPM

    Hello guys
    i have a 1999 PAtrol GU Y61 4.2.lt turbo diesel (TD42t) with the RE4RO3A auto transmission.
In D the acceleration is sluggish up to 3000 rpm, above that it is fine.
Locked in D1 or D2 the acceleration is much better but not 100%, i feel.
While cruising in od and you nail the gas, she shifts down but theres not much surge in power
ATF fluid changed and strainer cleaned - hasnt made a big improvement
Dyno'd the engine locked in D2, its fine 380 ft pounds of torque and 138 bhp.
    Does anyone have any inputs

    Vmax,

The 4.2 doesn't really like doing too much over 3000 rpm, so I am surprised you are saying it is better over that.

With my old one ( 4.2 with Safari Turbo ), most of the urge was down low, and anything over 3000 rpm just resulted in a steady speed increase, not so much a rapid one.

I would check the inlet to the rotary fuel pump on the motor, as there is a gauze filter which can become blocked, and this causes a lack of power.

    Solved :)

Hey Guys, finally got my hands on a diagnostic tool with the 14 pin adaptor and scanned the AT electricals and although no error code showed up, after resetting the settings the problem has vanished . was about to place an order for a rebuild kit and torque convertor phew!!! also the kick down switch is not working, got to figure that one out now. can anyone help me locate the switch and the possible remedy ?
Thank you all for your inputs.
    cheers.
