    Locksmith,

At our work, we end up collecting a whole heap of unserviceable batteries, and when we can be bothered, we take the stuff to the recyclers, and put the money into a staff BBQ.

    ARB may do something similar....

I can understand that. All I want to ARB to admit......

Yes we get the parts, strip them down, throw away the crap and sell what we collect. The newer the part, the more we get and the more we collect the more we make.

If you read their words they step nicely around the issue but like Julia nothing really got answered.

I think this is a bit more than staff money.

I run and understand business and making money off the discarded stuff is all ok. I have old locks I pull apart to service/fix other locks which have come from jobs.

I ask and advise the customer before doing the job so I know in which condition the locks need to be left in.

[QUOTE=ARB 4x4 Accessories;390675]Across our network we literally remove tonnes of OEM equipment from customer vehicles each year, most of which is consciously left with us by the customer.

As I've mentioned, all discarded OEM gear is either recycled or binned. Each store is individually responsible for how this is handled. Suffice to say though, that the overall effort and cost to discard these unwanted components is substantial.

We certainly don't intentionally loot customer vehicles in order to make a profit. In all cases, our preference would be for customers to take this equipment with them and discard of it themselves.

In some cases (tyre distributors for example) businesses actually charge the customer a fee for the disposal of unwanted parts. We haven't gone down this path.

    Cheers

Why would they come and declare that? It's simply ridiculous and unquantifiable!

The likes of ARB, TJM all have to deal with this problem. Your talking about a rear light that someone has listed on eBay for a price they hope to get! Good luck with that!

I seriously Doubt the market is Booming in second hand rear tail lights for GUs! They are all the same light through the models and if you check might even be the same light in the rear bumper of a GQ! Worthless to most' apparently Golden to a few, only worth money to the guy that smashed one.

Your conspiracy theory is drawing very long bows and I sincerely thank ARB for bothering to reply here not once but twice. Thank you ARB.

I don't think ARB are required to offer any further explanation of their recycling program at a Corporate level. They should certainly offer your goods back, and in good faith you should take ALL OF YOUR GOODS Back and dispose of what you don't want. As ARB clearly stated most Customers consciously make the discission to dump their old stuff for ARB to dispose of. Your request for your parts puts you in a very small minority. After finding some lights (likely not your original ones) they have given them back.

Nobody wants these things mate! The guys selling them on eBay are dreaming. At some point ARB has to PAY TO DISPOSE of the OEM parts they strip. If they can get the local wreckers around or smash repairer around and get $100 for a BOX FULL OF THOSE LIGHTS good luck to them. At best that's what would happen. IMO ARB don't owe us an explanation on that. If that shop made $10 a pair I'd be surprised.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I would say silence is better than words.

To have stepped up to the plate and then retreat just shows how they conduct business.

Based on what Sam from ARB has said they have done the wrong thing in not asking you if you want your bits back. That said, once the majority of people say they don't want the bits (and I can't imagine why you'd want your old bumper) it's up to ARB as to how they get recycled. If it's to give the parts to wreckers to dispose of good luck to them. I don't imagine the sale of left over bits of OEM stuff are propping up ARB's profits. Completely ridiculous to suggest it is some kind of racket. I had a set if OEM sidesteps from my GQ I couldn't sell on eBay even though others have them for $50-$100. It was better to give them away on here or take them to the tip......very few people want OEM bits.
ARB have said they did the wrong thing, they don't owe anyone anything more than that. As MR suggests, if its such an issue, go and pick up your stuff from ARB and do with it what you will, that would be the right thing to do.
Then, can we move on please, this whole conversation continues to go around in circles.....

They have answered and have no need to give any more answers. I for one am satisfied that this topic is finished.

Jonathan, at the pace 4wd systems operate, you won't see them on line because they're using a couple of jam tins and a bit of wet string for their communications! LMAO
