Would you buy these canvas bags?

Recently I made a canvas trailer tarp from the heaviest canvas I could find. I'm looking at a project with the leftover canvas. The pictures are the prototypes. No point in making 30 of the things if there isn't a market!

The question is simple. "Would you buy this bag?"

Please be honest, not flattering. I am not selling these bags in this thread, a new one will be created in the correct section if and when. If you say now you would buy one, I'm not going to hold you to it later.

    About them:

Small, medium, large. The small doesn't have a side pocket. Oil container is for reference. uploadfromtaptalk1371884366961.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884380292.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884395218.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884408156.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884419540.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884430460.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884490706.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884532604.jpguploadfromtaptalk1371884557797.jpg

Canvas is 15 weight. On my trailer the canvas is waterproof full stop. No pre wetting, extra sprays etc. Straps have 100kg breaking strain.

    Cheers!

They look really good mate. Your going into a market that is well supplied though.

One of the best things I have bought in canvas is my spanner roll! It is simply awesome. Holds a full set, plus a pocket for a big shifter. Awesome.

That small bag would be nice for tools in the car. Soft and strong as farrkk! A couple maybe for big tools and small tools or electrical tools when traveling.

Tell you what mate there'd be a few interested Ina canvas bag that fits a portaloo in with handles and a Velcro down lid Seen one made by a friend and it was a great idea both for storage and protection when it's on the roof but also a vanity thing, people do t want it to be seen on the roof. Privacy mate.

    Just thoughts for you.

    Cheers MR

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Looked at the pictures and thought "nah I wouldn't have a use for it" but reading Darren's comment it would be great for tools.

SHE told me the straps were the wrong colour too...

At the moment I'm probably just doing bags. (it started off me wanting a few bags for the kids)... ideas to finish up the roll. Other things would need a sample for dimensions. I have no intention submerging a saturated market!

Prices... dunno. Let's say the large one was $160. (I really have no idea)

    But I appreciate all suggestions.

What are you designing the bags to be used for? That's the question.
If its clothes, do you need 15ounce rip stop canvas? Don't think so.

Were looking at some duffel style bags which are more adaptable to that one little spare spot which a convention suitcase won't fit, for clothes etc. So canvas would be cool, but $160.. can buy 16 from Big W..

So the thought is there. And its a good one, but material and price are just way over the top.

Now if you were to make accessory bags, like gas stove bags, spanner rolls, even pencil case style bags for screw drivers, shifted hammers etc that could be a little avenue.

I think your biggest problem will be keeping costs down.. you'll need to buy bulk to keep any sorta profitability in it.
Like AB for instance. I think he mentioned he had 200 of his bags made. If he paid $40 (i have no idea, its just a figure i picked) that's an 8g layout.. that's a fair cost on items which have a slow turn over..

Just all things to think About mate.
But, good luck with it.. I hope it goes well.

    Hey mate, look good!

I was going to start selling bags with my vinyl and may still do but time and lifestyle has been too much lately. Hopefully will still do later on this year.

I see your using PK zips which is good but I would fork out the bucks and get the chunky plastic PK zips as below. I have some samples of all the PK range at work and after heavy testing the chunky plastic ones won hands down in durability.

I would also have a think about a thin bit of HDPE or similar to stitch in the bottom of the bag to keep shape.

I would buy a portaloo bag! Currently using black rubbish bag.

Have one with side pockets for chemicals! and maybe 1 roll?

Use a Thetford as a base design, ours is a 365
