And the tyres I have are only HT, I'm guessing that means highway tyres. They were on the vehicle when I got it. I've used them on sand a fair bit, but apart from giving the Old Trol a bit of a thrashing when I first got it, I have done nothing serious, rock-wise or climbing. They are hopeless in mud or wet grass.

Mate you'll be fine on this trip I reckon.....There'll be enough blokes to pull you out if needed.
As long as they're light truck tyres, they're all good in sand. My muddies will be more likely to dig in than your H/T on the sand.
I'm locking this one in. I'm dead keen for a look around the area. Are we going to do border track too or just Little Desert?
Might take the Friday beforehand off too for the drive across.
Tip tip tip......tap tap tap....

I'm trying to get at least one of the kids interested. At the moment, I am getting blank stares. So what route will be taken, How many ks all up. where is the meet up?
Those dates I'm sure to have the 80. But I found out tonight it'll probably be a no, as the 80's child restraints have been covered by the draw system..
So unless the magical maintenance fairies come and help smash out the gq it'll probably be a no show from me..
Yea same with my Q, the 80's are well under so yea, a no go..
Ill help plan just incase I can come.
If your doing the boarder, allow 3 days.
Meet at pinaroo, weather ya camp there at the pub or make tracks on day 1 its up to you.
2nd day you do the rest of the boarder. And have a play in the national park. Camp 2nd night there. Then a casual pack up, bit more of a play then head for home..
Pinaroo is about 300k from Adelaide, little dessert closeted to 500k.
You can however is take a 4th day and visit the Southend for some further sand play time and travel some coast road on the way back to home..
The first time I went threw mate it was a bod stock q on 31 roadies.. got cought up once in a stupidly large bog hole, but rocked it back and forth a few times to wear a strip into the center, drove the fronts into the side wall to lift it a little and i was off..
Second time I got caught up was the diff aswell.. never been caught on the body..
I have done the Border Track with friends in a Kia Sportage and a Mitsi 4WD Van and they both made it through without damage, just spent a bit of time connected to a snatch strap.
A stock GQ would find it easy.
