If all the cheap stuff was rubbish and the expensive local stuff was top notch, then no one would buy the cheap stuff. But clearly, they are selling it cheaply and making a profit, so clearly not everyone wants to pay top dollar for the expensive top notch kit, people are going for cheaper options and taking a risk on the quality, which often turns out to be good. Australia can't continue with the isolated island attitude, charging excessive prices for local stuff and denying competition from anywhere else. As in the rest of the big wide world, there's competition and companies must adapt to survive. If the high cost of local products is what people want to pay for the quality, then there would be no market for the cheaper stuff, but that's not the case. If local companies want to compete then they'll need to justify their high costs with high quality otherwise customers are going to see right through it. Local companies need to adapt to the market. And yes I work for a local manufacturer.

The thing that annoys me is that the SAME products, built in Australia- exported to America and the sold via amazon/ eBay back to bloody Australians....can be Cheaper to purchase from overseas and be bloody shipped back!
That is BS and price gouging of the highest order, and I reckon it's about time ARB and TJM realised that the Internet has destroyed their stranglehold on the market. They either adapt or watch their market share dwindle even more.
As for the Roothy/ tigerz 11 shite... I get spammed regularly and just delete the emails.
They have done themselves no favours with the "protest sale" guff... But neither have any of the big players in the industry by ripping people off for the last 20+ years.
If anyone says its not driven by money, and that have "Australia's best interests" at heart, just laugh and walk away.
It all about COIN.
That's my measly 2 cents on the subject.
Cheers
