Mate, as I remove the grill every now and then, I just busted off the plastic lugs along the top and use cable ties to re-secure. Will post a pic ASAP. Suffice to say, it is much easier than those...

I have a drop slide, which is excellent for my wife as well as me. Dropping it down makes access easy as. Worth every cent.
