Does a 33 fit on the back door?
My 33's fit on my barn but it depends what offset your rims for eg the factory rims with a +10 offset sits close to the door but the steel rims with my 33's have a -13 offset have alot more room.
x2 with Alitis007. I have same set up. Just remember the extra weight. That also concerns me, when the dollars permit I will replace rear bar and mount off there.
33" should fit if not buy longer 10mm x 1.25 pitch bolts say 50 mm long
and space the rear wheel bracket out with some washers.
I mounted mine internally as its a lot of weight on the door
I have a spacer for my light set up and have more than enough room for 35.. I would not put a 35 on though due to weight!!
Always thought you need to come out and up to fit
a 35 but remembered you have a custom rear bar
STD I think you will struggle to fit a 35 on a GQ, but
that's not the OP
On my GU8 I fit a 305/70R16 BFG KM2 on the rear door with a negative 13 rim otherwise doesn't fit.
Stretch has a 285/70R17 Dick Cepek FC-II on a GU7 on the original rim but had to put a spacer for it to fit.
I think it was touching the wiper or the actual barn door or both.
@ Mego if you want I have some laser cut disc 12mm you can fit up behind the rear wheel bracket.
G'day ThomasWatson,
I have a 285/75R16 Dick Cepek FC-II on a 2001 GU Patrol, on the original rim and it fits ok, however, you need to adjust the bracket on the door, (remove the wheel and look internally to where the bracket bolts to the door, undo and remove the 4 x 17mm nuts and lift the bracket up to the next bolt patten, this allows the 33 to fit without rubbing on the bar!)
PS, MudRunner notice when i was down in Victoria at Christmas that my Tyre was rubbing on the bar and not allowing the door to shut properly and advised me how to fix it.
Regards,
RLI
Also do I have to remove my mud flaps to fit the tyres
Usually not if castor correction bushes or drop boxes are fitted. I believe. As lifting the car brings the front wheels slightly back otherwise.
Happy to be corrected on this.
Back to op.
I think a 33 on the rear will be fine.. Along as your offset is fine.
35` tyres are pushing it..
That's on the weight side of things
might want to look at eastern wheel works wheels.
I run 285s and 305s on my 2004 gu with no problems ,mud flaps in place
You can move the front wheels forward 25mm with a spacer
Might just get a set of alloys off a gu8
16" tyres are cheaper and you'll get more variety
