hey all just wondering what types of lockers there are how they work are they any good ?????
air, cable, 12v, how deep are your pockets, all work well, I'd stay away from auto style IMO only had bad experience with them
Well I love me LoKKa from 4wd systems best bang for buck inmho have a look here. http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/index.php?id=29
Yo growler mine was in the rear of a 350 powered troopy. maybe weak point was gearbox, loved it when working
Ive got the awesome power of the mighty td42 N/A hahahahahhahahaaha in the front diff and touch wood so far been no worries and for $400 im stoked ;-)
I've got air locker for both..bloody expensive though and hope they'll last forever! Works great no doubt..
thanks guys pockets arnt real deep after just buyn a set of 33s and do you have a lokka in both diffs or ??? and should i get them in both or ?????
cheers again
mite be a silly q but what does imo and inmho mean ????
In my humble opinion or in my opinion
In my opinion..humble opinion.
Most will go front first as the rear LSD will help too. If granted by the minister..go both for sure..
imo- in my oppinion. imho- in my honest oppinion. There are plenty of people who love the auto lockers mate these are certainly good value for money and unless you plan on running 37"+ tyres they are a reliable bit of gear. In owning a patrol the lsd in the rear tends to be pretty good so you get the most gains with it in the front with your setup.
auto locker
cool cool so just go one for the front then just wasnt sure and thanks was wonderin if the joke was on me lol
well funny thing the minister is preggas so moneys tite she wants me to stop with my filthy habbit and focus on things that matter more but i thought i was doing that hahahahaha
im prity sure the "lokka" only comes in front they dont make for the rear well not for a gu anyway and i assume itll be the same for a gq but you can try detroit locker in the rear if you wanted to go down the auto locker path, a mate had one in his rodeo and gave it hell as he loved doing burnouts drifts etc. not sure why he got a rodeo though.
will be getting a mechanical lokka from 4wd systems for the GU - front $348 + $20 for postage = 1 happy me :)
Was looking at an ad the other day and they now do a rear for GQ /GU
Tap, Tap.......Who's there?
if your refering to the add in 4wd action it was a typo i rung and asked as if they did front and back i would have gotten them but sorry to say it was a typo
Yup, front only for GU - both for GQ as per email I got from them
The majority of the diffs are the same in the GQ and GU
They will go in Scotty no worries the diff centers are the same across the board except for the larger centre that went in the leaf rear. The only thing to check would be the spline count but I'm 95% sure it wil bolt straight in. We can have a go at the workshop day :).
I have heard that if you fit an Auto Locker then you should look at fitting a radiator for the power steering due to the extra work that the power steering has to do. Any opinions on this, especially those that have an Auto Locker already.
Couldnt hurt, though i havent had a drama to date
Like I said earlier the centers are mostly all the same MT so I find it out they don't list it for a gu
Their are three different gq rear diff centers look at an early gq lsd totally different to the later ones the one i pulled out of my 97 gq is a 4 pinion with sungears. and the h260 center easy to spot it has 12 bolts holding it to the housing instead of 11 and is huge.
The one i removed from mine looks like this.

and this is what the earlier ones looked like

so are auto lockers availible for the mk diffs leafs front and rear ????
i can see the pics but they are life size haha
There are situations in the sand/beach driving that the auto front lockers will prevent you from turning into the track you want. It might be different on harder ground but if you spend a lot of time on soft beaches I would avoid putting an auto locker in the front. If you go for the air locker at least you can turn it off when barging in the sand becomes a problem. It gets frustrating trying to pull it out of 4H so you can turn but then you loose to much momentum and stop anyway.
