You removed the birds nest from under your dash yet?
got the fridge drop slide fitted, now i can open the fridge without having to stand on a box.
@ Stropp are you going to cage in the fridge to make better use of the space.
No cheap but a great idea that's for sure
Ok, I didn't look much when I got home as it was dark and now I'm not near it BUT dad dropped in a piece of rubber he found in his drive after I visited. I know it's a long shot but does this look familiar to anyone? And also could that be the source of the clunks? It looks to me like it could be from the radius arms??
Ill put all this on another thread later to maybe help any others
EDIT: diameter is about 50mm
With the sub tank pump not working and a full sub tank, I decided to get a little fuel pump 2-3 litres per minute and empty out the sub tank.
Although I only got empty half the fuel tank.
The hose was quite difficult to feed down to the sub tank with so many twists and turns.
In the end I couldn't get down from the fuel cap so I opened the plastic guard from under the rear wheel arch and opened the fuel line and managed to get the hose all the way in from there.
Finally got the Catchcan in but I think the bonnet is just resting on it. Don't think I will bother moving though as not pushing it up. Stereo going in next month, thank god.
Finally blocked the EGR, only took me 1 1/2 years.
Today was power steering belt, new coax and aerial for the two way and wiring up the interior lights to work as one. Now I've just got to figure out how and where I'm going to put my led strip to add to the interior lighting and I'll be set.
Removed dead aux battery, another one gone! WTF is going on less than 18 months old. past 4 years went through 3x aux batteries 2x isolators, rewired entire dual batteries installation and still can get more than 18 months out of the aux battery.
Cheers
Lucas it looks like the rubber that goes into the chassis mate... look at the end of your radius arms and see if the rubbers are still there? ?
How thick is it? To me it looks like a body mount rubber. Radius arm rubbers are mushroom shaped, shocker rubbers, hmm maybe, but body mounts can get really squashed like that looks like. Can't think of anything in the rear of your car that would use a mount like that. Thats a hard one mate.
My guess is body mount related. Maybe once upon a time it was used to fix a clunking body mount?
It looks like there's rotation marks on it. It's dried out and squashed. Originally red. I had a quick look at the front radius arm mounts but it was dark and covered in mud lol. But could it be the rear radius arm mount to the chassis? That would have to make a bit of a clunk with the rubber gone?
Do it look like this lucas? Plus the rear radius rubbers don't rotate. Unless the marks are from a washer that was behind it.

Could it be a coil spacer ?
That looks like a boot that goes over the tie rod ends, if the mushroom bush at the back of the radius arm to the chassis is worn you'll hear and feel a knock in the floor near your feet when you go over bumps.
Now if you washed your car once in a while you could see underneath there no dramas, day or night!!
Nah not a boot. But yeah I started hearing a clunk and I think I felt it on the floor a few times... Hopefully that's it.
And I bloody washed my car last week! You're just jealous that I get it muddy more often than you townies.
So, yes George I'll wash it and yes Winnie I'll get under there with a torch.... God you guys are hard on me!!!
I think my patrol is ready for the trip!!!
Just got a newly used auto elec in Lilydale to wire up the aux tank pump, switch, sender to main sender and wire up the sat phone.
$170...pretty happy!!!
took mine to auto sparky to check it out and wire a couple of things in, bad news is my 18mth old starter motor is chucking oil everywhere so a new one is on order, BUGGER
Not jealous at all my bumpkin friend but hey if you enjoy looking like you crawled around in dirt all day and filling your eyes with dirt so every time you blink they feel like they're 36grit sandpaper thats your problem!!!
How can that be when the starter doesn't have oil in it ???
Seamus got a bath today after having his oil change over the weekend :)
Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner
Well I had the new starter installed and called my mechanic to have a go at him for not seeing it and he says there is nothing wrong with your starter it will be just the oil spilt when he changed the filters, faaarrrrrk I spent $$$$$$ on replacing a starter there is nothing wrong with, oh well he was very embarrassed and gave me a discount and serviced the starter so now I have a perfectly good spare starter.
Oil and filter time in the TD42..wishing I could get one of those oil drip trays I have seen on forums, but was not too messy.
New shocks and springs this weekend..still can't believe it was so hard to get some 2" lifted coils for the shorty lol guess a month to get them is not too bad
Attachment 45716Installed the new superior bash plate, had to drill 3 bolts out and empty a heap of sand and crap out of the bottom radiator brace. I suggest everyone check there brace and clean it out.
Had a "Water Watch" system installed.
