I just got home now. 1000kms travelled today, my car is in need of a good dusting but I am so happy with my car this trip, it was perfect!
I will never forget this trip and thank you to all for coming along and making it all possible.
Here is my fuel figures for the trip. Andy Darren and I filled up at the same place each time and Andy always put about 2L more than me and Darren's was a bit more than that with the 35s (and a lead foot haha)
I am very happy with those figures being fully loaded.
5097kms in 13 days
I will try get my photos up tomorrow.

That head wind was bullshit... we had to sit on 90km/h to keep temps under control because we were working our cars so much harder than usual.
I want to especially thank my 2nd best friend, Zach (MudrunnerJR). He was the only kid (besides AB) for most of the trip and he was so well behaved and kept himself amused the whole time. The trip would not have been the same without him calling me a wanker and telling AB to get a big black one up ya... bwahaha! Good on you Zach, you are a very lucky boy to have your Dad take you all around ouback Australia on swag trips like he does. How many other kids have done the Simpson Desert twice before they are 10?
Stropp tried to buy friendship and I don't know what you did to knock me from the number 1 position but I will find out!!
Send my condolences to all you travellers suffering from post trip syndrome. I feel your pain.
Only way to ease your suffering is to share loads of photos and stories of your escapades, dish a little dirt and break rule number one!
We are here for you....
Welcome back can only do your motors a world of good, and cleaned it right out.
Let us know if you feel any difference once things settle down
I made a big mistake this trip and that was not bringing a spare air filter. My air filter was so clogged it was disgusting and I was majorly down on power on the home stretch.
First night camped on the Murray River, nice sunrise in the morning.

No photos from the second night at Orroroo... it was miserable haha.
Caught up with Snicko and Neville in Leigh Creek the following day, and our group of 3 became 4.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/19.jpg
We stopped to take a look at Maree, it's a nice looking town but it would get HOT.

The beginning of the Oodnadatta Track!
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/23.jpg
Lake Eyre, the lowest point in Australia, (15m below sea level) we can tick that one off the list now.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/24.jpg
Thanks Winnie, keep it up, it's all starting to make sense now! Lol.
A request, can you include everyone's forum name when referring to them. I'm still not sure who eventually went, & some of the 'real' names I'm not familiar with. (Like who is Neville? ....... Sorry Neville).
We caught up with Stropp in William Creek and our group of 4 then became 5.
We continued on the Oodnadatta Track and made it to Algebuckina Bridge for camp that night, which is the longest bridge in South Australia.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/25.jpg
The next morning we got to the Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta. Stopped for fuel (ouch) and continued on, headed for Dalhousie Springs

Into the Witjira National Park, not far to go now.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/28.jpg
We stopped to have a look at the old Dalhousie Homestead ruins, very cool indeed.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/29.jpg
One of the major highlights for the trip, Dalhousie Springs. Roofy & Jane and Kat & Steve were there waiting for us when we arrived. We planned to stay there 2 nights and I'm so glad we did. We had a quick look around and set up camp, then it was off to Mt. Dare to fill up with fuel for the last time before crossing the desert.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/30.jpg
On our way to Mt. Dare we caught up with The Evil Twin! He was headed for Dalhousie and we had a beer and talked crap with him for a while and he headed back to Mt. Dare, shame about his trailer but I'm glad it's all good now.
The Dalhousie spring was amazing, an enormous 38 degree pool... how good is that! Especially when you are hungover at 5.30am and you wander down there and watch the sunrise from your little paradise... or when you sit in there all afternoon in the shade and drink beer.... yeeeeeeeeeeeah.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/31.jpg
Rossco & Nicole arrived at about 8.30pm on our first night in Dalhousie, we now had our final 9 cars ready to cross the desert.
I found out I have a pot of gold Attachment 46706
Streaky bay caravan park cabins, aircon on as it was windy as and wet all night and set to continue today.
Attachment 46707
We were all ready to hit the desert by 8.30am on the Tuesday and were on the road not long after. Our first stop was Purni Bore, which is 85 degrees!

I am going to have some info missing while my iPad works itself out and I sort some stuff out with Mud Maps... sorry but I will edit these posts.
A spit roast in the desert never goes astray =]
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/33.jpg
We stopped at the Lone Gum Tree after our first night in the desert (it got cold fast). The Lone Gum was pretty cool, still no idea on how it got there though.

Happy snap on a salt lake =]

Some big birds nests we saw in a tree
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/36.jpg
Our 3rd day in the desert we reached Poepell's Corner! We took some photos and had lunch there.

Another happy snap of the GQs
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2014/07/38.jpg
Our last day in the desert, we stayed 3 nights in there and it was amazing. We reached Big Red at about 10.30am. Wow, it was everything I was hoping for... a mega challenge!
We all had 3 shots and only Rossco managed to make it up, he got it 2nd go. Andy and I had our cars fully airbourne on the humps at the bottom..... not cool!
Round 2, Darren made it up first go! I went up after him and got up on my first go as well, hell yeah we did! Next was Stropp who also got up but didn't have his camera on, so he went back down and gave it about 5 more goes before he got up as well.

Did you encounter much dunny paper every where??
Brings back fond memories, thanks heaps
Who was organised enough to bring the spit roast along? Pretty impressive stuff!
Winnie your Trip report is looking great mate, I will add a couple of things too. For a start, our roll out time was 8:30am each day and the first day we rolled out of Dalhousie at 8:10am because everyone was ready to go! We wanted to get away from the idiot who was running a Genset to cook his toast too!!! WTF!
Here is a couple of screen shots of the trip from my Hema. The icons are as follows. The person Icon is where we camped. The drop pins are points of interest. I have just marked them up roughly sitting here rather than dropping them on the map while there.
We did some kms and saw the Desert is so many guises that it was truly extraordinary. So different so often! Pick a box and we encountered it.

The auspit was great. The meat cooked well but slowly and when done the vegis were Raw! We rested the meat and put the vegis back on and dropped them to just off the coals and they were awesome in 20minutes.
Winnie bought the setup off eBay second hand for a song and turned up in the middle of the Simpson with it still with the previous owners D Cell batteries and No Spares!!! Needless to say as the thing slowed Rossco gave him curry about it not making it to the end! Was funny and yummy.
We hit the Birdsville bakery for lunch (a curried camel pie, yum)
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps34a82ecd.jpg
Then it was off to the caravan park to set up camp, then straight to the pub! We had an awesome BBQ at the pub for tea and a lot of beers to suit...
We had a photo at the pub in the morning.

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps1397010c.jpg
Repairs made in Birdsville were, Rossco had a new brake line made, I got an exhaust mount re-welded, and Roofy got a new idler pulley. How good is that!
Darren, AB, Snicko, Stropp and myself left Birdsville to head down into the corner country, we had another camel pie and went to Haddon's corner for the night.
On the way...

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps9f41dfcd.jpg
Haddon's corner, we camped about 200m from here.
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps231bb2db.jpg
In the morning we left Haddon's and were headed for Cameron's corner. We stopped at The Dig Tree on the way.
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps16231cb8.jpg
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...ps5dacb03b.jpg
About 10kms from Cameron's Corner, Stropp had a massive tyre blowout, Darren helped him change it there and after some confusion on the radio with a random stranger, AB and I turned back and arrived as the job was finished. Great help we are!
We stayed the night at Cameron's Corner
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb...pse0e7e7c0.jpg
We left Snicko (Nigel-no-friends) and Neville at Cameron's and headed in different directions. After a really hard slog behind the wheel, we made it to Broken Hill at about 3 and decided to stay the night. We went to the Demo Club for a meal and it was so good, just what we needed! Stropp even tried seducing AB and Darren with oysters.
In the morning we were off to Hungry Jacks for a quick breakfast and coffee and we left Stropp here. An 11 hour drive to do 1000kms, and I arrived home before 8pm for a quick meal, shower and straight to bed!
Guys I had such an amazing trip, I hope I have the opportunity to do a trip like that again. I really look forward to everyone elses photos.
You can't clean out an oiled filter while on the road. Keep in mind those fuel figures are fully loaded, full tanks etc... AB and I got over 1000kms from our tanks at 15L/100 which is higher than normal.
The app is called Fuel Log, make sure you get the paid version of it.
Neville is Snicko's husband, Kat is Katwoman, Steve is Kat's husband and I'm sure you know that Darren is Mudrunner!
No mate, did not see any dunny paper.
That was me. I bought especially so I can say I had a spit roast in the desert... yeah it tasted good too!
Oh come on, it was fine in the end! Just read, the two D cell batteries last a minimum of 90 hours.... okay maybe I should buy a pack of batteries.
Thanks for the pics mate, I think I will do what you have done and upload to photo bucket rather than use the app for the pics. They look soo much better in that size rather than a thumbnail.
Great job mate.
I Hope Shaggs drops in with a trip report too she was manic with the camera!
Thanks Winnie.... thought you lost the love... yes you can clean out an oiled filter.
Thanks again Winnie..... great stuff.
Good stuff but that tree with the face is not the "Dig Tree'
Dig tree has a blaze with dig inscribed in it. I fell for it too
Great app , looks like weather was on your side too
I did not fall for it at all, look at the photo underneath that one.
The carving of the face was cool so I took a photo.
best tree has the face what do they charge now for a visit ?looking good seeing it was done around 1860
worse road in Aus was the Dig tree rd back to Innaminka before the grader came through
Sounds like you're hooked Winnie it is a big country plenty to see. now fill in your map of Aust
and ponder where to go next, Cape York maybe ??????
