First night camped on the Murray River, nice sunrise in the morning.

No photos from the second night at Orroroo... it was miserable haha.

Caught up with Snicko and Neville in Leigh Creek the following day, and our group of 3 became 4.

We stopped to take a look at Maree, it's a nice looking town but it would get HOT.

The beginning of the Oodnadatta Track!

Lake Eyre, the lowest point in Australia, (15m below sea level) we can tick that one off the list now.

Thanks Winnie, keep it up, it's all starting to make sense now! Lol.

A request, can you include everyone's forum name when referring to them. I'm still not sure who eventually went, & some of the 'real' names I'm not familiar with. (Like who is Neville? ....... Sorry Neville).

We caught up with Stropp in William Creek and our group of 4 then became 5.

We continued on the Oodnadatta Track and made it to Algebuckina Bridge for camp that night, which is the longest bridge in South Australia.

The next morning we got to the Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta. Stopped for fuel (ouch) and continued on, headed for Dalhousie Springs

Into the Witjira National Park, not far to go now.

We stopped to have a look at the old Dalhousie Homestead ruins, very cool indeed.

One of the major highlights for the trip, Dalhousie Springs. Roofy & Jane and Kat & Steve were there waiting for us when we arrived. We planned to stay there 2 nights and I'm so glad we did. We had a quick look around and set up camp, then it was off to Mt. Dare to fill up with fuel for the last time before crossing the desert.

On our way to Mt. Dare we caught up with The Evil Twin! He was headed for Dalhousie and we had a beer and talked crap with him for a while and he headed back to Mt. Dare, shame about his trailer but I'm glad it's all good now.
The Dalhousie spring was amazing, an enormous 38 degree pool... how good is that! Especially when you are hungover at 5.30am and you wander down there and watch the sunrise from your little paradise... or when you sit in there all afternoon in the shade and drink beer.... yeeeeeeeeeeeah.

Rossco & Nicole arrived at about 8.30pm on our first night in Dalhousie, we now had our final 9 cars ready to cross the desert.

We were all ready to hit the desert by 8.30am on the Tuesday and were on the road not long after. Our first stop was Purni Bore, which is 85 degrees!

I am going to have some info missing while my iPad works itself out and I sort some stuff out with Mud Maps... sorry but I will edit these posts.

A spit roast in the desert never goes astray =]

We stopped at the Lone Gum Tree after our first night in the desert (it got cold fast). The Lone Gum was pretty cool, still no idea on how it got there though.

Happy snap on a salt lake =]

Some big birds nests we saw in a tree

Our 3rd day in the desert we reached Poepell's Corner! We took some photos and had lunch there.

Another happy snap of the GQs

Our last day in the desert, we stayed 3 nights in there and it was amazing. We reached Big Red at about 10.30am. Wow, it was everything I was hoping for... a mega challenge!
We all had 3 shots and only Rossco managed to make it up, he got it 2nd go. Andy and I had our cars fully airbourne on the humps at the bottom..... not cool!
Round 2, Darren made it up first go! I went up after him and got up on my first go as well, hell yeah we did! Next was Stropp who also got up but didn't have his camera on, so he went back down and gave it about 5 more goes before he got up as well.

Winnie your Trip report is looking great mate, I will add a couple of things too. For a start, our roll out time was 8:30am each day and the first day we rolled out of Dalhousie at 8:10am because everyone was ready to go! We wanted to get away from the idiot who was running a Genset to cook his toast too!!! WTF!

Here is a couple of screen shots of the trip from my Hema. The icons are as follows. The person Icon is where we camped. The drop pins are points of interest. I have just marked them up roughly sitting here rather than dropping them on the map while there.

We did some kms and saw the Desert is so many guises that it was truly extraordinary. So different so often! Pick a box and we encountered it.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

The auspit was great. The meat cooked well but slowly and when done the vegis were Raw! We rested the meat and put the vegis back on and dropped them to just off the coals and they were awesome in 20minutes.

Winnie bought the setup off eBay second hand for a song and turned up in the middle of the Simpson with it still with the previous owners D Cell batteries and No Spares!!! Needless to say as the thing slowed Rossco gave him curry about it not making it to the end! Was funny and yummy.
