Ouch, appreciate the offer Tim but thats a long drive for a paddock bike.
Would be a good excuse to travel though...lol
that's what i thuoght. Paul would tag along and we could have a mini forum family meet with tony coming over.
infraction ur self
Heheheheeheeee
Have bit the bullet $395 for new one. Pick up tomorrow. Beenleigh auto & marine electrical. Thanks for help anyway Paul.
This turns out to be early GQ alternator.
Sorry Tim I put it out there to a couple of my wrecker mates but have had no reply as yet.
I think you are taking the better option anyway in buying a new one as we use our 4x4s off road & thay have to be reliable.
Cheers
Paul
so you's are coming then. It's settled. Bring swags. Now when can we expect the Mav to roll up?
Hi folks,
I am chasing an aerial/antenna for a 1989 SWB Safari (GQ).
It is the type that mounts on the edge/corner of the passenger side front panel, next to the bonnet.
I need the whole unit - mounting head, rubber seal, mast, cable.
Aerpro only do a replacement mast or an electric unit (which requires you to still have your original mounting bracket...). I cannot find a full replacement kit anywhere...
Is there anyone wrecking a GQ where this is intact and would be willing to post to Perth.
Cheers
John
Have a chat with this bloke he's a member here & he's wrecking 2 GQ's: link below.

Thanks Paul - I have put out the feeler sto both. We'll see what comes in.
For some reason, they seem as rare as hen's teeth - almost as bad as the little plastic mount for the rear view mirror!
you coming over when they arrive Tony?
Update:
Wednesday; Paid $395 for what looked different to mine. Was told how to modify after being assured that they could supply exactl same as mine.
Took it back to work. that day didn't get to do anything with it.
Thursday pull out finlys' dead alt. place side by side and work out the wire I thought was single was two in one very well tape loom. Oil fittings just need swapping. Looks good.
Today do the swap of oil fittings, fix the battery charge wire, put in alternator. Drive Finly home again. YES so happy.
Tomorrow phone auto elec and apoligise for doubting him.
Good to here you got it sorted Tim. Sorry I wasn't able to help you out after all that.
Cheers
Paul

ph: 0438006397 , email: maddo3.142@bigpond.com
let us know where u @, and your budget, and if you can pick up or arrange transport, and what you intend to use them for.
Im from Bendigo in victoria my patrols got a 3" inch lift with pajero alloy wheels on it which looks silly mainly because of the narrow offset so im looking for some sunraysia rims with cruiser off set i was thinking 16 by 8 or 15 by 8 and tyers im thinking 285,75,16 there abouts or 33" ,11",15" possibly a mud tyer but not to radicle as its my daily.
feel free to make suggestions
G/day Jon, have you given Charlton tyre service a go?
Its not to far from you & thay are cheap with a big range of tyres & Rims to.
I got my last lot of sunnys there (15 by 8) & from memory thay were around $50 each brand new.
Cheers
Paul
Got the pump and housing. Theres a rubber seal on the housing do you just put rubber grease on these before install?
I use a smear of silastic.
Tony
I do.
Tony
Have you tried permateks gasket sealant Tony? It's not silicone and very good on water housings.
For me, I would use silastic on 21045J, it will help hold it in place as you install the housing. Put a bit in the o-ring recess and push the o-ring down into it. For 11072 and 21014 Permatex would be better as Tim suggested. Silastic will still work if that's what you have, but the Permatex is better.
Tony
edit; I use blue silastic. The only Permatex I've used (as far as I know there is only one type) is the one that looks like liquid vegemite.
