ROH 16 x 8 n13, 1200kg $85.
I'm keen to get some wheels this week or next week. So what do you rekon ???
Mullins neg 28 only comes in white aswell
Sorry ian I have not had a chance yet as I have been flat out, I will send my guy a text when I get home with what you asked me and see what price he can do the wheels and tyres for
I am looking at getting some wheels, still deciding on which way to go though. Would be looking at 6 all up (2 spares) but I am worried about weight being a factor with 1 spare sitting on the roof rack and one on the bar door. Not intersted at this stage in getting a rear bar with a wheel carrier.
So what do you guys reckon? My heart was set on a pair of King Steelies but now I am thinking alloys. I see some people even just hang on to the stock alloys, can you get a 33"s on the stock alloys??
George & others,
Another potential option.
I just got off the phone to All Wheels (Sydney) where I was talking to a chap named 'AJ'. He may join the forum & post some info here later as I gave him this thread address. Seemed like a helpful chap.
My enquiry there was regarding the 2100kg load rated Mine spec wheels, which are only available in white, & in 16" x 7" (I had hoped they were available in 16 x 8 - something he says he gets asked for on a regular basis).
http://www.allwheels.com.au/product....cat=559&page=1
These normally retail for $190, but he said he would let us have them for around $150 each delivered to Dandenong if we bought the numbers we are talking about. He seemed quite understanding of the beneficial nature of 'looking after' folks on enthusiast forums.
I know 265/75's will fit onto a 7" rim, andother than not being able to go to a wider tyre later if wanted, I am uncertain what the implications of using the narrower rim with the 265/75's might be? (Would love advice on this - AJ said there are plenty of Prados around running 245's & 265's on 7 " rims).
He also talked about better deals still if we bought a tyre/rim package.
Not sure what it would cost to get the rims powder coated black? TD may advise.

Nobody rang eastern wheel works they are made with 10mm hubs instead of 4-6 like most sunnies
any offset you want. plus you wont look like everyone else. If i wanted load carrying I ring them at the
drop of a hat
@ Cuppa should have read whole thread lol, looking around $15 a rim To powder coat.
If a heap from Melb get them done together I could see that coming down
FYI Prados are IFS rims ,as in widen inwards
@ George you going to run 2 sets like me????
Hi Beni,
I've seen reference to past 'debates' on Alloy vs Steel, I suspect it's probably a ford/holden type thing with some folk arguing to justify their own purchases & it's probably not worth regurgitating them. At the end of the day it's your decision. From my perspective I'm only considering steel on the basis of cost & ability to repair out in the bush. Both types can get damaged, but I'm guessing that in the event of a 'get you back to civilisation' scenario following damage to a rim that I'd prefer a steel one which I could belt back into shape or get welded at a station. Whether this might ever be needed is a 64 thousand dollar question given the carrying of two spares.
What is the cost of alloys? I haven't even looked, but I'm guessing it would be at least 2 or 3 times the cost of steels. Adds up quickly when 6 are required.
No doubt that alloys are lighter which has several advantages, (especially for anyone with a dodgy back!).
I guess which you choose will probably be dictated by the depth of your wallet & where you intend to go. The rims I am wanting to replace are steel, chosen & used by Telstra almost exclusively on outback roads & tracks. I am guided by their choice in the belief that generally their choices were based upon a great deal of experience as to what worked/was cost effective, & what wasn't. I am confident that if they had thought alloys to be better , especially given the greater load carrying capacity of alloys, that they would have used them. I am changing because I want to run tubeless instead of the tubed I have on the split rims.

Just sent request off and should not be too long before I get an answer??
OK he just got back to me and said those tyres you mentioned Ian are way over priced for what you get and said he can get a tyre called the Black Lion that is hard wearing and has a very heavy load rating..
He said he can do 6 tyres and rims for $1600

This is the pattern? ?
Thanks Cuppa, you are pretty much receproacting my thoughts.
If push comes to shove then I definatly want something thats going to be repairable out on the tracks, plus at the end of the day I think black steelies look the business!!!
Would be interesting though to wack a pair of steelies and alloys on the scales to see just how much of a weight difference there is.
Both bloody heavy!!!!!!!!!
Black Lion Powercode BS80
Thanks BA, $1600 for 6 wheels & tyres is a very attractive price, over $500 less than if I bought the ROH rims George has been quoted on & the Bridgestone D697's at my locally quoted price. That is a lot of savings but I reckon I might give it a miss. I may be crazy & missing out on a real bargain, but basically I'd rather buy tyres that I've heard of, & can get replacements for relatively easily in outback woop woop should the need ever arise. Thanks for checking it out though. Did he give a price on just the ROH rims at all?

And just to throw more fat on the fire (& thinking aloud in case anyone should think I'm trying to contradict what they've already told me - I'm not, just trying to process 'new info') ...... a couple of the wheel places I've rung today have informed me that the stock Patrol 16x8 offset is Pos 10mm (as others here have said) & that to run 265's I should get a zero offset wheel, not a neg 13mm. I wish I didn't keep getting conflicting bloody info! I've had enough of it, & know that neg 13 will do the job 'cos I've seen 'em on Maccas truck, besides if they stick out a tad more than they really need to so what, doesn't really matter does it? Neg 13mm moves the wheel 23mm 'outward' rather than the 10mm 'outward' a zero offset would achieve. 10mm seems a bit too close If I went with zero & got rims & they rubbed I'd then be up for getting them machined & rewelded plus repainted which would not make me a happy chappy whereas having a little extra space between my tyres & the chassis does no harm.
SO....... George can the place you got quoted on the ROH's supply tyres too, & if so could they price a package deal on rims plus 265/75LT Bridgestone D697's (fitted & balanced if possible) or do you think i'd be better getting them fitted locally in case I get any post fitting 'wobble' problems?
Cuppa
I did ring them TD, but seem to have 'lost' the response I thought I'd posted here (I know I wrote it, but perhaps I closed a window without actually posting it).
$340 per rim is out of my league unfortunately, no matter how good they are.
The bloke there seemed pretty good to talk to & even advised me that I'd be better off buying off the shelf if I could. He mentioned those 2100kg mine spec 16x7's I referred to earlier & reckoned I'd have no problem running 265/75's on them. He also said that he could change the offset in any wheels for $70 each.
When I told him I'd be running at close to 4 tonne, his view was that the 1200kg rated wheels like ROH & King should be quite adequate particularly as their rating allows for some leeway.

Eastern Wheel works 6 spoke 'Sunset Country' steel wheel
Yeah, that would mean a pos 10 offset.
You are taking 10mm from one side and adding it to the other.... sorta hard to explain with words.
The measurement should to the same face of the rim. From the front you have to measure through the centre hole to the mounting face.
Just found this old thread by MudrunnerTD might help with a few of the questions on measuring offset
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...ead.php?t=6427
Don't slap it, tap it!!!!
Mate i measured my 16x8's on saturday and they are pos10, from the center 10mm forward.
Best and easiest way is from the back mark center (4" or 100mm) then with a flat edge on the back of the hub measure that to your center line and bobs your aunty. Not really rocket science lol
Anyway who wants wheels?? At this stage Cuppa and i are going to go with the ROH's but i'm waiting on an e mail from another supplier...
Winnie is on the money mate. If you are 20mm out then 10mm of that belongs on each side of dead centre ;).
If you consider that as George said centre was 100mm then you have a 90mm on the front and a 110mm from the back. This is positive 10mm. 10mm from centre.
Hope that helps
Mind you a rims width is measured from the inside of the bead, as i was told when i got my FR Simmons hand built....
Hey guys, can you tell me if these are the right spec for a 08 GU Patrol?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pc...6883/overview/
I don't have the best reception ATM but if they are PCD 6/139.7 center bore 110.5mm and an offset between -13 to +10 your in!
All good except the centre bore!! Its only 80.77mm!!
Edit - Oh and offset is only -12.
The Offset would be fine but the centre bore would be No Good. You could get them machined on arrival if the bolt pattern was right though??
PCD is fine 5.50" = 139.7mm but yeh the center bore is no good
Bummer, really like the look of em hey.
Has anyone coated standard GU alloys (latest shape rim) just wondering what they would look like black?
Look good powder coated.
