Hey guys! Look what i've got in the mail box from Patrolapart ☺ http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/264.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/265.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/266.jpglooking forward to get them on the car :)
Coming along nicely Roesen...good job
looking good mate! im unsure about the smaller motor with the bigger turbo. there are a few people here with the RD28, just do abit of searching on here im sure the question has been asked once or twice before
i have done some research about this engine and all i can find is issues about overheating and blowing cylinder heads. i have also seen the turbo conversion from original to Garret TB2527. i think i will mount new original, so at least i can get these small 115 hp back at least :P.
same as the TD42
I found with mine
new fan
new clutch fan hub
new water pump
Nissan Coolant
new thermostat - 85* opening
and a full flush and "rod" of the core
thats stopped mine from over heating - so far..............
Good news! I've got the body safely in the garage so i can start to weld in the new rear fenders :)http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/291.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/292.jpg
You're doing a great job considering what resources you have.
Keep it up
haha wow it looks incredible with the orange undeaneath!!!
Coming along really nicely man. Will look really good once it has finished. The little 2.8's don't like to be over stressed. Having said that I think if the correct safe guards are out in place and it is well looked after it should be fine IMO. (I am not a mechanic though). Prob about the same as the 3l, ppl put bigger turbos and so on in them and they seem to go fine.

Is it finished yet...hahahahhah
Looking sexy mate!!
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/297.jpgthank you guys! It really took me some big thinking about how to get the body inside my small garage. Finally i got it in and the rear fenders also arrived this morning:) welding starts as soon as i have cleaned out the garage :)http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/298.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/299.jpg i have the plans ready for a new garage 70 dquare meters big. But all the money goes to my patrol 😎.
Has anyone told you the Norwegians are crazy!!!
Very jealous
Love watching this build take shape.
Hey look! Some earlier owner has apparently tried to ment the fenders with some stuff that didnt work😅http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/300.jpg anyway, her is a picture of the disambling: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/301.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/302.jpg i think the will to get a cool Patrol is stronger than see the limitations around, like the size of the garage ☺ if you want it, you get it :)http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/303.jpg
Great job mate! Well done!
Now its time to remove the frame from the body again so i can work with the body in my garage. Have to do some welding in the floor and i dont want to damage the frame:)http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/347.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/348.jpg
Progress! First cut on the body:) http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/400.jpg
I've been thinking about the color and type of paint i will get on the car. so i have been sitting here on the computer this evening and the result is quite untraditional lads!! i am gonna paint the entire body with!.... wait for it!.... bedliner :) now that is the weirdest and the coolest i have seen on a offroader, and! i dont need to polish and be careful with the datsun :P just get in and drive without being worried for road salt and winter and other hostile enviroment :)
thinking of the beige/brown afghan hummers color on the patrol. is that cool?

interesting colour choice and product
very nice
should look real cool once you have finished
how will the colours match with the orange chassis???
Here we would call it Chook shite, a speckle style finish inside a ute tub.
There are a few DIY spray on tub liners, Rhino springs to mind.
You need a colour that will allow your running gear [orange] to POP lol
There was a tar based product that you spray on via a "HOT GUN" not
sure of that name either, but was black and a great salt deterrant. I'll have a look for you.

I have second thought about orange axles, cause these will give me limitations regarding the color on the body... First i was planning to do a black car with the orange axles but then that got me started thinking og KTM. I dont want a KTM colored car [emoji14] so if i paint the car with army beige i think i'll change the color of the axles as well.
I have watching some DIY films at youtube and i think it looks real cool. Have you seen it for real life? This is the first time for me that i have seen a product like this, so it feels kind of cool to use a product that nobody else in a radius of 700 km have on the outside of an truck :)
Doesent U-POL Raptor give a smooth (not as regular paint) surface or do you get scratches when you draw your cheek over the paint? Are these two you are referring to better choices? :)
anyone else notice that you are using what looks to be a railway sleeper to hold the body up? haha they are bloody heavy!!!
I don't know where in Norway you live - but I live in Oslo. I drove my 260 Patrol to Trondheim and spoke with a rather "famous" guy called Bruno Jørgensen. He's got complete TD42 kits ready for sale. He even lets his guys do the job in his workshop. I recommend you to contact him if you want a certified TD42-engine. The only thing that stops me from doing that is of course the difficulty of placing a TD42 in a 260 body/frame.
Cheers
Could always paint it Woodlands camoflauge
Hello fellow norwegian!
I've heard about Bruno from my mate who lives in Trondheim. I think i need to plan a visit, cause maybe he have som other parts as well. as you already know there are no parts, i repeat! No parts for Patrol in this country so a visit to bruno might just be it. Right now im not so interessed about engine swap. I have to take on thin at the time :) But after the restoring of the car i might just be interested in the 4.2 engine. would be fun to have it approved though!
If you wondered : I'm Trønder :)
have you tried looking on the australian used part places? with a good bit of communication you could probably convince a seller over here to ship parts to you(if you say local suppliers are THAT expensive). check out Gumtree
Just tack welded it on. Full weld will be done tomorrow: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/431.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/06/432.jpgi can see on the picture that the space between the door and fender is not quite parallel all way. Perhaps i should undo the tackweld and tilt the body a bit before tac welding correct. [emoji14]
Ah, Trønder, ja ;)
I'm a little bit of everything, but from this summer on, I will be living in Trondheim (NTNU).
If you want, I can PM you Bruno's number, if you don't have it. He's got like... Well, so many Patrols for spares that the Miljøvernetaten forced him to remove a large number of the cars from his property :P
I believe Bruno and his guys at his Mekonomen-approved workshop should easily be able to convert your car to a TD42 approved vehicle. That's what he told me, if I had a Y60, and not a K260 :(
I know about Gumtree, but most of the sellers there are "afraid" to ship to Norway, due to the risk of things getting damaged in transit and such. :(
Anyhow, Aussie-orders are quite expensive at the time as the AUD has become quite "stronger" compared to the Norwegian Krone. The last 6 months has been a nightmare for Norwegian economy as the international oil-prices have dropped - and so has the NOK.
they built a lot of the European 260's in Spain
and I believe there is a rather lot of the Y60 & 260's in Poland
Aye. All the 260s in Norway were short (officially imported), and the rest, like mine, a long wagon 260 was privately imported. All made in Spain. My even has Spanish only manuals and such. Not so practical...
Y60s are the most common Patrols here. But MQs and MKs are difficult to spot.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/07/203.jpg god afternoon humans! I've been quite busy last 14 days.. been at work but now im home and look what came by mail while i was at work☺.
Question: the color i want is called Ral 1002. But wat kind of paint do i mix with the bedliner? Does it have to be polyurethane paint or is it good enough with some regular "steel paint" like hamerite? The internet doesent answer that question so i hope some of you guys could help me :)
Am I the only one reading Roess and Gabriel's conversation in there head with a Norwegian accent? Lol.
Mate this is an epic build. I'm sure this is going to finish off great. I'd love to be able to put those massive flares and 40inch plus tyres on my Patrol, and get away with it. As for the RD28T. I would get a new turbo of the same type, then put a 3inch exhaust system on it and a chip too. They seem to react very well with those too.
One other thing to check is the harmonic balancer. These RD28's have a tendancy to rip out the key ways on the front of the crank and cause the balancer to just spin on the crank.
