What type of engines run a pto?
Warn 8274 high mount with 6hp motor, tapped brake shaft, pinned free spool, plasma rope, bearing end cap and a big far cough hook ;) does alright ;)
Has any one tried a ridge rider winch
Guns don't kill people, people with mustachios kill people
I have only ever seen them on the TD42, the catch is it has to be a manual box. On the side of the gear box (passengers side) there is a cover plate that is removable and the PTO take off bolts on there. The gear lever for engaging the PTO fits up on the drivers side of the gear lever and works via a cable
anyone using superwinch here? XRC 10?
what about winch care, hoe do u guys care for your winch?
I have an X9 superwinch on the GUiV. I bought it second hand and it looked unused. It had been on the front of a 200 series and when I got it home I bench tested it. It was fully seized and rooted.
I stripped it down and rebuilt the gearbox and then the motor as both had been full of water and were solid.
Don't take it for granted that the winch on the front of your car for 5 years and never used will still be ok to use. Test it, service it at least once a year. It's not hard to do and take a couple of hours and then will not let you down when you really need it.
So MR you cut your grill to fit the 8274, Did you ever see Flamin fabs twin motor mod and extended spool.
Think he did one for Birdie and Co
From memory didnt one of the guys pressurize motor with Air to stop water and help cool as well.
Yes I have that setup on mine but have not really used it to be honest so it acts like a vent when not pressurized. Pressurizing is actually quite difficult to achieve but I do at least get positive airflow (pressure) but it is also well sealed.
If I go the air free spool then will use that airline and solenoid to operate the free spool and do away with the pressurize option.
My winch will be good when I pick it tomorrow. Warn hi mount for FREE!!!!! just need to put it back together and find a remote, then it will run. Then I'll upgrade the solenoids and free spool and some dyneema.
Nice score,
Here is a good company if your wanting to rebuild your highmount.

Hi drew,
I used a jump pack to power the winch without the solenoid.
You will find the power sequence via google and power up the winch and test the directions are working well.
I did into need any parts as it all just needed a good clean out. Most parts though should be readily available Drew.
Give me a yell any time
I'll drop off the crane on saturday drew for you and you snatch strap.
Makes the job so much easier!
Thank mate. Much appreciated!
