Yeah they run a return....... I may look into that Kallen.
It kills me the thought of pulling out all the fuel gear again??

What about the cam?
Tow cam....
Interesting. Sorry about all the questions mate. But do you know exactly what "compression" mods were done to the motor prior to your changes?
No I dont???
I dont think there were any???
I tired and want to stop spending money...he he!!!!
Never mind I re-read what I was reading and realised you spruced up your old engine and didn't use the other engine you bought. I'm tired too lol.
How much extra fuel are we talking? Are yours and drews cars similar in setups
We both have the same except for my cam which was a present from George and Billy (he will kill me for saying).
I used half a tank driving around the tracks today (25km) then drove home which is about 50 min drive on the freeway.. those behind me commented on how rich it smelt and I have been complaining for weeks about the smell.
Drews fuel gauge did barely move?
I would be interested in how Drew needs to top his tank back up so I know exactly how much he has used?
The other engine is sitting here which I need to get around to selling as it is sitting here doing nothing... really only good for big turbo set up!!!
What is the actual litres per hundred of yours BA, and Drew's.
Clunk should be able to chime in with his too, as a comparison.
Maybe your ecu map is a bit out of sorts and it's holding your injectors open too long
I'll top it up tomorrow when I take it down to wash that stinky as sh!t Tallarook mud off it and let you know how much I put in.

You won't have to pull the fuel system out.
Just locate your return on the tank, if it goes to the rear tank you'll be able to get it via inspection hatch in the cargo area.
Add a peice of line to it to clear the cab or drop it in front of the tank into a bucket, start it up. At idle it should be a good flow.
I cant get to the inspection hole... I can check it down along the chassis but where it may have run into grief is just before the tank as it was a really tight fit with all the extra fuel lines for the Aux tank after I took all the gas out.
Does the return line go from solid to rubber at an easy to get to spot?? Can you divert it at that joint?
Maybe try and blow some air down the rest of it..
41L I got in there and I travelled 162km since I filled up......works out about 24L/100km I think.
Not too bad for low range driving.

Hmm ok I think I need to do some sums... I will fill up tomorrow and drive 100km then top up again and see what numbers I get.
This will be city driving and later in the week I can do a highway run and do another comparison..... then report back with my results.
Thanks Drew.
No worries. Was just thinking that you also have a couple of extra inches lift on yours and I'm also running the skinnier tyres that have a reduced rolling resistance.

Ok I did 50km exactly towing a very heavy gardening trailer with it full for nearly the whole 50km in city driving and put 12 litres in....
Now to do the other 50km tomorrow on the freeway... going to the RAAF base to take the kids out and we will see what results I get there??
The smell I get in the cab is more like an oil smell as today (maybe as it is cooler day) there it was really strong.
I've been told its because I am running petrol and because I have not finished the quarter chop but I ran petrol a lot before I took the gas out and I never got this smell in the cab before... it burns my eyes when it's really bad.
Hmmm....
Didn't Mudski mention the same thing on Sunday driving behind you? Very strong petrol burning smell... I couldn't smell s*** cause my nose was stuffed from that dust up there.
He said Petrol smell but I think it is more of an oil smell?????
You would only really notice if you were following me on the freeway for a bit to smell it.
So turbo???????
Are all breathers hooked up correctly? Do the TB's have a charcoal canister? Is the filler neck, level sender/ in tank pump all sealed correctly? Your fuel isn't really looking any worse than drews.
Still got oil flicking onto your exhaust from that leaky seal?
The oil seal in the gear box was fixed .... Matty I am thinking it not fuel it is and oil smell??
With the head all done is it possible the rings are getting blow by ?
with the engine running take the oil filler cap of slowly of its under serious pressure then you'll have blowby,
I have just got under the car to do something quickly when I have just seen heaps of f%$king oil leaking between the engine and gearbox...... I am so f@cking broke from this and Mags just looked at me like she is sick to death of this car!!!!!!
F$Łking sick of it....really... I have no money left for this crap!!!! f$%k f%$k f%$k
take a deep breathe mate.
it will be ok its not the end of the world, i totally understand how your feeling as i too am having the same sort of issue with my car at the moment with zero funds to sort it out.
we have alot of good people on this forum and i am sure we can all pitch in somehow and help out.
if you need to vent mate send me pm with your number and we can hash it out
Not good mate, you thinking rear main seal ??
oil leaking down the back of the rocker cover
FFS that's sh1tty Johnno
Far out man so sorry to hear that, as said before if ya need to vent more than welcome to ring or even stop in and if ya need a hand just yell out.
The oil leak is the oil pump, with the new timing gear its making more oil pressure as the old units teeth were really stretched and wasn't working correctly.
The timing is set to 20*BTDC but the TPS. Is set a little richer for a little extra performance
Rear main is new, timing case oil seal is new, timing cover is re sealed, new sump gasket. It started leaking a couple of weeks ago when we dumped the oil after 500km or i should say we noticed it then and i told him to keep an eye on it, coz when we had the motor out it was dry otherwise it would have been changed. Jonathan and i are spewing coz the timing cover has to be removed to remove the oil pump.
Is the the crankcase breather free of restriction?
Yes Matty the PCV system was thoroughly cleaned while the head was being done
There was a lot on mud on the block so it may have been masking the oil leak till i pressure washed the block before i fitted the motor but like i said it was dry
