Your steering query.

Your castor wont help but you are getting a few small things happening that makes it feel that way.

You will be getting a small amount of rear steer. This is normal for a patrols rear suspension geometry. Your castor as you have said wont be helping. Also as your front left hand corner rises your steering arm will slightly alter in its position. So all very minor things that equate to what your feeling. You have a good chunk of torque now so you will be getting quite a bit of movement under hard acceleration.

I know your rear end is in good nic since you have just fitted all that new superior gear.

That's what I believe is happening also, seems to have got worse after the Superior engine mount went in on the passenger side, which magnifies the chassis movement.

Thats about the only place I didnt look haha. I dont use the search function as you can tell :|

We loaded up and took off for a break today, the Patrol is full and the van is at least 3 Tonne so I was very interested to see how the temps go after the latest round of mods. Blasted up the hills at 80-90km/hr which last time saw me backing off as the factory gauge was hitting the very top of the normal range, this time, it didn'teven move. Super happy so far!!! Mods included new 3 core Rapid Cool radiator, UFI fan and fan hub some new coolant and the removal of the bonnet protector. Air temp is low 20's. Hopefully it continues like this.

Bonnet protector? Is that the sound deadner or the plastic strip over the nose of the bonnet?

Install was pretty straight forward, just a bit time consuming stuffing around with the rear camera, but in the end it came up pretty good. I'll have a better play with it tomorrow and see how it goes, but so far so good.

Hey mate. Quick Q regarding the install.
How did you go plugging the into the standard loom. Did you get a plug and play loom or was it a direct plug in setup.?

You can buy loom adaptors for this Kallen. Well for my older GU i could... I would assume its the same for the later U's.

Cheers. The plugs look similar that's all?? Don't really feel like chopping the loom.

I could not find a adapter loom from my last 2 stereos. So just bought a Nissan to "anything " adapter and soldered the other end to the small stereo loom/ plug . That way the car harness stays untouched .

There's theory and apparent scientific proof that supports it and also supports that it makes absolutely no difference. I can't comment for sure as I changed many things at once.

I'm open to input mate but I struggle to see how it could make a difference , I don't imagine it changes the vortex of the airflow across the front when you already have a big arse bull bar that disturbs that and I don't imagine it insulates the front edge of the Bonnet so much that the bonnet gets hot and doesn't let it cool thus heating up components under there -ie radiator but then again I could be wrong .

The bonnet protector supposedly bounces the incoming air upwards enough, so that it's sending it over the bonnet scoop, compared to without the bonnet protector. There was a video somewhere with a bloke doing it with feathers and a camera on the bonnet.
And also one where the bloke had an industrial fan setup, coated the the top of inercooler with Lanolin and sprinkled dust into the fan and a lot of the intercooler surface remained clean. Then he repeated it with no bonnet scoop and much more air/dust went into the scoop.

This wasn't the video, I can't seem to find it. BUt it was similar to what this guy has done ....

I seem to remember that vid as well, and it was fairly conclusive that the bonnet protector made a huge negative difference to the airflow through the scoop

how difficult was it to get the turbo off? Had issues just getting the dump pipe off this past weekend, couple of studs snapped, Did you just unbolt your exhaust, unbolt your dump pipe and then undo the 4 bolts on the manifold?

It came out pretty easy actually. I did spray the turbo to manifold bolts with WD-40 for a few days before trying to remove the turbo. The car never moved during this time. Then I undid the 3 bolts that connect the exhaust to the dump pipe, then the 4 bolts that connect the turbo to the manifold then lifted the turbo with dump pipe still attached out.mto do this I had to remove the inlet and outlet pipes from the turbo, but they are 3 simple bolts each. The 4 turbo to manifold bolts are a royal PITA to get at, I ended up using an open ended spanner (a good quality one), but got away with it, otherwise to me it looked like a manifold off job, which I wasn't interested in doing.

Sorry to hijack rocket, maybe you can help..
My 08 stock stereo has 3 plugs on the back.. the main 2 which obviously control the bulk of the radio..
But the 3rd goes to the bottom corner..
wires are black. Light green and purple.
As you can see the aerpro does not connect to it?? Any idea what it is??

And just my luck the jvc plug is a mini so the aerpro doesn't fit.
So hodge..
I'm guessing most the colors are standard on the aerpro?
My unit has a separate reverse wire and park light switch..
Would they be the missing wires on the 3rd plug??

I only connected up the two plugs on mine as well... I had to connect a spare wire for the power antenna, but that was straight forward and All works fine - 08 GU

Only minor issue I've had since is lack of reception because I cut one of the antenna cables instead of using an adaptor

Sorry for the hijack but 3rd plug not needed. Got The correct aerpro harness and all works..
Antenna goes auto up and down. Radio works.
But yea next time I'm going a hodge, just grab the too nissan plug and solder the new units plug to it.. save $20 and 1 less join..

Na mate, unfortunately I was home all day, fixing a leak in the pool filter pipework, mowing the lawns and cleaning the fish tank, super day all round to be honest..... Not!

Finally got around to reinstalling my Superior upper and lower arms. As you know my first set of Superior bushes flogged out after about 3,000km. Superior eventually agreed to pick the 4 arms up from my place and then courier them back to my place after they put some "proper" bushes in them. Time will tell how they go I guess.

Bit sad aye. Superior are generally pretty good. I dont know why they would risk some of their rep with inferior bushes

Yep, apparently if you buy genuine Nissan bushes 10,000 at a time you get them for about $20 each. Storey has it that Superior found "equivalent" bushes out of China for $3 each and this is what we got, I mean this is the "bad batch" of bushes that came through...

Sounds like a sales pitch "sorry bad batch" but eh they came to the party and
picked them up and will replace and return the "good batch ones" gotta be happy with
that except for a small inconvenience .lol

Small inconvenience .... Full set of rear arms in and out 3 bloody times instead of just once. Could be worse I guess, at least I didn't have to pay someone to do it.

Yes, you read right :(. You never know, I might not be able to sell it yet and would therefore "have" to keep both... Reality is I can't afford to keep both so the Patrol will eventually move on. Someone will get a nice rig.

Were you not happy with the performance after all the mods you have done?

Performance is strong, has more power than I'll ever use, in normal driving or hooning or towing the van I don't need to go anywhere near full throttle.

Took the caravan up to Newcastle yesterday for its first service/inspection (won't be going back ever again but that's another storey for another time..) and had to fill in the day, so off to Stockton I go. With all the extra power and torque I was pretty keen to see how it went. Effortless is the only word I could use. Tyres at 16psi, 2nd gear hi range and it just went anywhere I pointed it. EGT's between 250-300 and engine temp 80-85. I could slow down to cross big soft ruts and then just power off again from low revs with a small flex of the right foot, a puff of black soot and we were cruising again.
