Aldi on Saturday i stumbled on these. Given the lock down yoyr local Aldi may still have them.
Reusable 250mm long Cable Zip ties. Under $10 from memory.
I have a few of these out of the USA from 15 years ago. Very handy in the 4B for keeping airbase tied to the cargo barrier and stuff.

Agree, just got home, unwrapping the boxes and found these, they don't look like the advert, the tang is quite small, however they lock quite firmly. I dont think any cable tie is a life saver device, but these have their place.

Knipex 97 00 215 A Crimp Grip Plier (9700215A)
$140 AUD,
Have only just got home Daz, opened and closed them a few times, they are very 'positive' in action, just like a pair of vice grips. The throat is adjustable for height of final clamp. The wire stripper function is also adjustable, so you can set the stripper jaws exactly to the right diameter without needing the feel of a thousand butterfly eyelashes.
Back to the cable ties....................................they dont have that big lug that yours has, hence they appear to be less usable for that function, but they do release ok.

Hopefully they crimp better than these;

They're built well, I just don't find the crimp is as nice and tight as what my cheap pair do. I've had a few terminals pull off the wire after using them. I think perhaps wire and terminal size is much more critical as they have a set crimp depth.
My cheap pair crimp like below and are always solid as.

Yeah i have a reasonable set of thr first ones but have always crimped a size down ans double crimp. So yellow in Blue jaws and Blue in Red. Then double length the crimp then heatshrink.
Keen to get these and hope they are a big step UP

So i have posted a kit like this before but this one popped up in my ebay the other day and it looked like a really good collection 9f clips I did not have actually. Also to include 5he Plastic Trim removal tools was a winner, I have all of the tools but lost a couple so ordered it.
It specifically has the trim clips that hold the GQ door cards on for the win!!

Gave the new crimper a test run today. Its an absolute winner for crimp strength, however its on the semi difficult side getting the terminal into the jaws. There is a compound slicer plate that forms part of another function and its a bit tight when working in tight locations to get it all together. I was on my back crimping wires above the rear diiff, so its probably an extreme orientation. Anyway, I learnt to compensate one way and then the other. The outcome is the best I have had so far. The jaws will clamp down to a very firm finish, and the actual crimp height is regulated by the release lever to some degree. Happy with the purchase, MudRunnerTD you should be happy i am guessing also.

First impressions are mixed. I'm a bit apprehensive that the body is plastic, although I guess it would have been ridiculously heavy if it was metal. I make a cut and FK me, effortless and very accurate. On that regard I am thrilled with this tool. Needed to hook up the dust extraction though.
It's actually not as loud as I thought it would be and even has a brake on the motor when it is powered off. Comes with a crosscut guide and even a push stick too which is a bonus.
One more thing, it's bloody massive!
On the whole I'm happy with my purchase.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/02/201.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/02/202.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/02/203.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/02/204.jpg

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThose Carbatec units are great, but they have a 100mm hose. Perfect if your machine has the same size attachment.
I tried adding a reducer to a 50mm hose to connect it to my drop saw and the Carbatec didn't inflate the bag and create the proper vortex for normal operation. Suction was almost nonexistent.

Well I'm very very happy now with both the saw and the thicknesser. Yes, for the perfectionist out there, it isn't buzzed and therefore not perfectly straight but I can only make do with the tools I have. This is naturally seasoned messmate from the bush across from mine, intended to become a coat hook with old railway pins mounted when it's finished. Stoked with how easy it was to get the timber to this stage and how quickly too.

You must have bought the same one we just did Cremulator Mate?
https://www.carbatec.com.au/dust-extractor-2hp-old-code-fm-300
It’s a 2hp also with twin port 100mm suction pipes we’ll be connecting to two 100mm machines within 3m distance of the unit via this kit which includes blast gates:
https://www.carbatec.com.au/dust-collection-kit-1-carton-8kg-85-5-39-22-cm
In theory I can’t see why the smaller 1hp model couldn’t work for two 50mm machines or at least having a second blast gate half open or full?
Until now we’ve just been using our Hilti concrete drilling shop vacuum with success but does fill too quickly now with bigger machines coming into play.
https://youtu.be/PCmImKdOdas
It’s only downfall sound wise is that every 15 seconds it does a needed auto filter clean (thump/thump/thump) that echoes through the valley [emoji23]

So I unsuspecting had an rdo yesterday. I was already out and thought bugger it, I'll pick up a local labour hire shift for a couple of extra bucks. It was next to Bunnings and I had about an hour to peruse Bunnings before starting my shift.
I reckon I scored a few bargains, especially the drills, thrilled with them!

was that list pricing or bargain bin clearance? keen on the speed bores and the drill bits, the drill bits are probably pretty average to be fair but great for grunt work and sacrificial if needed. Those smaller sizes tend to break of get flogged out quickly. Some of mine just walk away though! Farking things! i provide a good environment but they still just up and leave. can explain it. Those craftright drill bits are biggest pieces of shit drill bits I have ever used. When I bought my kit they came in a steel box. I knew they were cheap wanted them for the box basically and over time fill it with quality drill bits, I have never seen HSS with that much flexability before and so piss weak.

Thought I'd ask here before I accidently buy more rubbish.
Is anyone aware of a good quality 14mm-25mm (or thereabouts) steel drill bit set with 13mm shanks?
I'm trying to drill big holes in 10mm steel plate.

Check Total Tools or similar trade outlets. I have a sutton set that does that range, have lasted from years of abuse. I am looking for a quality sharpener at the moment but can't find one at a reasonable price.

Why 13 mm shanks? Drilling a 25 mm hole in a 10 mm steel plate is a big ask for a device with only a 13 mm capacity chuck 🤪🤪

Why not use hole saws. Take a lot less material out and be much quicker with less load on the drill.
Cutting a 25mm hole with a 13mm chuck drill is a huge ask. For user and drill lol

Depends on the accuracy of the hole I suppose. If you want a concentric hole, use a drill, if you are not fussed about the eccentricity or even oversize, use a hole saw. Thats my personal experience.

Where are you located? I have used a hole saw on a drill press and was amazed how well it cut. If you have access to 1 it will blast through it.
I've cut 8 32mm holes through 10mm stainless plate and using right technique and fluid, hardly even put any wear on the holesaw.
I use them everyday at work on various material and got to say pay for decent ones. They will be so much better than cheap. Sutton are a good start. Milwaukee ones seem to be ok but I have a kit which is called reload. Has quick change setup and has been great. I've only just recently broke the 20mm and it's about 7 years old

Another option...
Aldi step drill kit. 3 lovely golden HSS chinese pieces of joy costing a whopping $13 giving a range from 4 to 32mm in 2mm steps.. With 3 flats on the shaft to prevent slippage in the shyt milwaukee chucks.
Drill in to the 10 mm plate from both sides on a drill press and you will have a lovely chamfered hole.
Seriously, I have drilled hundreds of large holes thru up to 5mm 316 staino in an industrial environment with these. Using Rocol cutting oil and a slow speed they are still like new and shiny and golden 😀😀😀

Guys, I picked this up recently after a solid recommendation from a guy on site who has used them for many years. They were configured for the NASA space program and have a special pressurised ink cartridge and writing tip that will write on just about everything. He uses his on bricks and tiles and wood, oily waxy coatings etc and swears by it. I have not tried this range of duties but it certainly performs on rough face plywood and straight to paper without missing a beat, no scratching around trying to get it to write. Very expensive for what it is but i have used it writing on wet steel corroded pipes with Sulphuric acid and it delivers like on paper - very impressive, certainly niche. Recharged or new cartridges are avail also.

Who knows, but thats what i read. It works well, don't plan on testing it in space so will just go by the blurb. I don't know how the ink cartridge differs from conventional parker or schaeffer units - must be different or they would not have sought a solution beyond writing with pencils and chalk i guess.

Yes i have one of these from back in the day. great bit of kit. I will confess to pulling it apart the other week trying to figure out how to make it suit RivNuts but i dont think it can. Searched Ebay for an adapter.... Found an identical one specifically for RivNuts for under $100.... Might have to buy it i reckon.

We have a proper unit at work which has much longer threads. The unit also automatically unwinds out the nutsert. So you can put them in as quick as it takes you to screw the new nutsert on.

Had the adapter delivered today, Ryobi actually have an impressive range, some thing's I just can't justify the money, something Makita just don't make.
I bought a Ryobi caulking gun, for $70 brand new, Makita one is just over $300
and a Ryobi hot glue gun about $30 i think? Makita don't actually make this tool. Super handy for quick plastic fixups around the house or even out on the track.
The adapter was a grand total of $22 through Amazon. Fits well in the tool and battery. Super cheap option to carrying a second battery range.

Badaptor MAK-RYO Makita to Ryobi Battery Adapter https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07RWKQSF7/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_X7FWR0S856T8BM3AQFX6?_en coding=UTF8&psc=1
For what it's worth, the main caulker guy at work uses a Ryobi gun, he said the tool is just as good as the Makita one, he doesn't see the need to spend the extra on the Makita one. One downside to the Ryobi is it won't take 600ml sausages. I'm working on a plan for that though lol, I'll keep you posted.

Borrowed a magnetic drill yesterday for a project in building for work.
Where have they been all my life bloody awesome. Basically a portable drill press that sticks to your (metal) work piece.
I ended up watching a heap of vids online and reckon I might re purpose a big old drill the old man has. This is one of the old school finger breakers so should be perfect. Use some electro magnetic for holders for the base and half way to a good setup.
On a side note YouTube is awesome. Been watching a lot of vids on random machines for home workshop. All self made and then used to make the next project. Eg big belt sander tube benders cross tables. Some great ideas. Once the new workshop is actually built I might dive into a few of those

I have been looking to buy a few F clamps suitable for using when welding but the are hideously expensive.
Came across these at Supercheap on special a few weeks ago but the store only had 2 and no more stock.
I jumped on their website and it let me buy bulk so I did. Winner. Winner.
Price was $17 each or 2 for $20.
I might have bought 12....

Toying with the idea of a cordless rattle gun again, having seen the Makita I think would suit me for $399. It would be a 'travelling tool' with the aim of simplifying a few things & saving me a bit of pain & grief. Athritis is becoming a thing for me, & I find exertion can often be followed by pain for several days if I'm not careful. Disappointingly I don't think an electric rattle gun is suitable for doing up wheel nuts, but could I think be very handy for undoing a variety of fasterners. Just a few days ago I was lent an Hitach one to undo the front diff plug - so easy!
Anyway Makita will be the brand as that's what I have batteries for. I'm wondering if anyone else has a Makita DTW700Z 'mid torque' model & if so would you recommend it as a general 'all rounder'? It is physically smaller & lighter than the Hitachi (HiKoki) one I used, but more powerful & with a variety of settings. It's weight is probably much the same as the long length of pipe I carry for leverage on stubborn nuts, & more flexible to boot.

FWIW Cuppa Mate I used to always carry onboard a 1,000Nm Milwaukee 1/2” drive rattle and after wrist surgery had to downgrade to a 600Nm which felt like half the weight in reality and still getting the trackside job done [emoji106][emoji106]
Brands….whatever…..1,000Nm nut busting home/work power is too much for us Young Blokes out and about with GVM’s to also consider every added bonus weight reduction necessary too [emoji23][emoji106]
EDIT: Milwaukee’s older 1,000Nm nut buster was heaps heavier than that looking great sounding tool to your kit Cuppa Mate Apologies [emoji106][emoji106]

G'day Cuppa. I've got the DTW1002 so cant answer your question from experience, but seriously I'd think 700Nm would be ample for general duties. One thing I would personally be discerning about is buying a Japanese made one, not Chinese. When I bought my 1000Nm model, the Bunnings units were made in PRC but Total Tools sold the Japanese-made ones so I bought there.

Cuppa, I have a 1/4" Craftsman impact that other then wheel nuts and panhard bar nuts, has helped me a lot on my Patrol disassembly. I have to use an 1/4 to 1/2 adapter to be able to use my sockets. A friend has a 1/2" Dewalt impact gun that can pretty much break any stud he wants it he lets it go. I am prone to believe that any good brand impact made for 1/2 will have enough torque to wheel nuts.
On a side note, my "hobby" 1/4 impact is still useful even for wheel nuts and panhard nuts... I just break them with a breaker bar and let the toy impact gun do spinning for me...

Hey Cuppa, I just went through researching impact wrenches to add to my collection.
Looked at high/medium and standard torque ones.
I ended up with a standard 340nm purely for its size and weigh.
Unless you are working in heavy machinery or construction anything more IMO is an overkill.
To give you an idea, I stripped my sons Hilux and put it back together with this little thing. Pretty much every bolt. And never even tried it on a high setting
I have a Milwaukee kit so went with them but Makita would have something similar.
This thing fits in the palm of my hand.

Hey Cuppa, only had Choinese-made DTW700Z at Total Tools and Bunnings. Might not be a choice there for you. The 1000Nm unit is still marked as made in Japan, or as the Total Tools guy told me, "made in Japan". He said every crate of Makita comes in from Choina.

I've been caught out by this with a drill, I didn't register the tool so it was out of warranty when I took it I to be repaired.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this relatively new release found from Milwaukee for their 18v 12.0Ah battery recommended range that we have already have quite a few yard batteries to suit:
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/10/93.jpg
Claims it’ll do up to 135psi and weighs under 15kg which would be worksafe handy for one man carrying around the bone yard for truck tyres and the like instead of mud wheeling/dragging diesel powered compressors through winter sludge [emoji90]
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/10/94.jpg
I just don’t fully understand the elecy 70% “Duty Cycle” techy stuff listed, would that mean it overheats after pumping up a first/second/tenth tyre?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nissannewby
17th October 2021, 09:44 PM
The duty cycle is normally stated over a 10 minute period. So at 60% it would run for 6 minutes and need to rest for 4 minutes. It could even switch into a thermal/overload protection during this period. It will be in milwaukees product information. It doesn't have a lot of flow so could take a while on the larger stuff. If you compare it to the arb twin compressor the little milwaukee is 4 times slower.

Stolen from FB. A good read....
TOOLS EXPLAINED
DRILL PRESS : A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it.
WIRE WHEEL : Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, 'Oh sh*t'
DROP SAW : A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short.
PLIERS : Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters.
BELT SANDER : An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs.
HACKSAW : One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle... It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes.
VISE-GRIPS : Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand.
OXYACETYLENE TORCH : Used almost entirely for lighting on fire various flammable objects in your shop. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race..
TABLE SAW : A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity.
HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK : Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper.
BAND SAW : A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge.
TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST : A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect.
PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER : Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads.
STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER : A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms.
PRY BAR : A tool used to crumple the metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part.
HOSE CUTTER : A tool used to make hoses too short.
HAMMER : Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
UTILITY KNIFE : Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund checks, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use.
ADJUSTABLE WRENCH: aka "Another hammer", aka "the Swedish Nut Lathe", aka "Crescent Wrench". Commonly used as a one size fits all wrench, usually results in rounding off nut heads before the use of pliers. Will randomly adjust size between bolts, resulting in busted buckles, curse words, and multiple threats to any inanimate objects within the immediate vicinity.
Son of a bitch TOOL : Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling 'Son of a b*tch' at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need.

So I'm at the point where my grass needs a trim. I purchased a Ryobi 18v brushless lawnmower. Had a look at the smaller entry level one which would have probably been good enough, but it really looks and feels like a toy. This one has the 2 battery option and more that enough power. The whole thing is plastic, but as long as you use it with a little care I can't see why it shouldn't last a while. Only fault I have is that you have to keep the lever squeezed in all the time, or the motor stops. I'll make a simple bracket to hold it in.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/02/31.jpg

In addition to the lawnmower I also got a Ryobi brushless impact wrench.
Rotated my tyres today using it and I'm impressed. I may be easily impressed tho.
Using highest setting (270nm) they spun off easily. Switched it over to the auto stop feature (120 nm) and went around all nuts twice, then grabbed torque wrench and checked. Had 2 that needed about 5 minutes as if you're looking at a clock, if you know what I mean, but that could have just been me not hitting it twice. All the others were pretty good.

I have a couple of pairs of side cutters, a couple of weeks ago I was working around the shed and misplaced my favourite pair damn it. Searched high and low damn it. I have a large set but my favourites are this middle size. If I find my other pair I'm happy to have 2 sets. Lol

Hold a difficult or odd shaped item in the pointy nose pliers and the clamp the pliers in the vice. They act as an extension Jig to the vice jaws. Very kool idea.

Have a need for a chainsaw at a level up from my Stihl 029 (Farmboss) nom 50cm³
Just bought my new toy, Husqvarna 592XP and this just moves thru quick as _ Cylinder displacement 92.7 cm³ / Power output 5.6 kW
https://www.husqvarna.com/au/chainsaws/592xp/
Intend to do some slabbing and will be getting a 36" bar and skip tooth chain. Interested to hear from anyone that can suggest any chainsaw milling attachments known that are up to the job. Have a some hardwood logs (up to 30" dia) and do some pine planks into boards.

Most of our hillbilly milling these days is done on the yard bandsaw but little tips below from what little experience on our homemade Alaskan mill Stihl 660.
*30” diameter milling off your saw will require additional lubrication, preferably at the opposite end via drip bottle or Vicky standing safely at a distance with a squirter bottle.
* Especially with your softwood pine plans don’t fall for the Youtubey videos of diesel/bar oil mixes as your secondary/distance lubrication. It stains too deep into the timber and will require additional thickness/plane work to remove. 25% detergent/75% water we’ve found works a treat if applied to the long bar end and allowed to disappear before re-entering the saw.
*Skip tooth for sure especially on gnarly hardwoods to clear but consider say 10 degree chisel angle for a smoother finish cut (albeit harder to push through/along) but a lot less work after you’re done.

Nice one John, I made a home made Alaskan jobbie to suit 30" and upwards and works well as long as you've got plenty of time and a bit of muscle to slog your way through. . With a 30" bar cranked the oiler right up but any bigger will need some extra lube as discussed. . Also as discussed skip tooth and 10 degree chain and make sure bar is dressed really well if not will wander and be a real PITA. . Have been an offsider on a Lucusmill a few times and they are an awesome bit of kit bit priced accordingly. .
Alaskan style are petty cheap on ebay or Jono & Jono but here's a few pics of home made jobbie. .

Also made made some first cut rails but can use a ladder or timbers would work as well. .

Thanks MB and Rossco for good advice/tips and will retain for future milling reference for sure. Certainly have entertained the idea of a bandsaw and Lucusmill, both proven having great potential but yep, constraint is my lack of heavy lift capability machinery and their cost.
So milling attachment hauled to lumber on place will be the go, but rightly said need to be able push with manageable strength reserve for a while. Had a look at jono&johno mills etc and was last night checking out the Granberg Alaskan Mill MKIII (around $500) and looks reasonable quality.

"
Looking at 32 & 36" bars so thinking to get the 36" with the skip tooth ripping chain 10 deg, Think the 36" be choice as guess would loose 6" of bar with clamping in mill frame.
Most likely be buying mill and rails as many jobs to do and little time.
Have only a few saw logs up around 30" (mainly red stringy bark) and those smaller widths that will run thru thicknesser. Many pine of good size that would make good wall boards for bush chook type shelter and other ideas as they come to mind and makes good firewood (dry) for stove cooking.
If push get tough going, can always fit second handle maybe and Vicki can push also when having a rest from oil squirter bottle haha

MB mark can you explain pine mill method here a bit more to help me understand better.
25% detergent/75% water we’ve found works a treat if applied to the long bar end and allowed to disappear before re-entering the saw.
Are you still running chain /bar oil and then the water / detergent to disperse the residual chain lube oil before cut pass thru log?.

Here’s our dusty old 660 Alaskan:
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/07/192.jpg
This is the secondary oiler/lubricant gravity fed bottle on the end:
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/07/193.jpg
Problem we found with using bar oil 100% on the gravity feed was getting constant regulated flow.
Many Youtubey videos from USA recommended a 50/50 bar oil / diesel mix but this stains the timber deeply and costs a lot of money in oil/diesel.
We changed to detergent/water mix tests and found it to be cheap and more effective in cleaning sap during cutting too.
Hand throttle is a great addition:
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/07/194.jpg
You’re welcome to borrow our little snig trailer anytime for hauling the long logs back to your shed for block & tackle hoisting up to a decent working platform height:

Vicky will also need to follow behind you whilst cutting with wedges to keep the weight off your bar [emoji736]

Have seen people rig up a small hand which to assist the old back which seems to work well. Red Stringy and Pine obviously aren't too tough so should get through it fairy trouble free. Milled up a heap of Yellow Stringy which is probably the toughest of the Stringies was fairly slow going but the using a Stihl 460 got it done slow and steady with one operator logs were probably around 20 - 25 inch diameter. . .

So you use this detergent/water mix plus saw bar oil(primary lub_retained) for all milling with dusty old 660 Alaskan?
and for soft and hardwoods?
Still have wedges of hardwood from dads and his dads bush mill (Tarago farm)_over 60 yrs old easy.
Thanks again you two blokes thought I was asking at the right place_lots to learn for this.
Using the larger mill (36" bar). would this also be good for smaller logs 18-20"? Make it easier or does not really matter (room to move)?
Have some roadside clearings that contractors dropped off recently, some interesting short logs (1.5-2m long) mainly 24" - a couple at 30") apple jack, red box that will useful.
Also have windfall tree but most get left for habitat but this recent one will be milled.

Smaller/thinner milling projects the chain saws own bar oil should be fine John Mate. We only hand squirt water/detergent mix on its end when up around max width on ours around 800mm IIRC.
Green sappy timbers the detergent helps a lot as mentioned.
We use only/solely the water/detergent mix 100% of the time on the main bandsaw workhorse.

Found it, a Youtubey we made on our second hand bought homemade Alaskan’s very first run a few years ago on a 5-6 year old season Red Ironbark bench seat to be John Mate:
https://youtu.be/9_s3k1wtPQ8
Extremely high silica content Ironbark’s munch new chains and foolishly without a skip tooth chain was very slow going we found but the cuts were smooth/easily worked later and very fine powdered saw dust.
Notice the bouncing of the mill end, we overcame this in later tests with a second set of hands simply holding a wooden garden stake in one applying light pressure down and squirter bottle target shooting the leading edge of the chain heading back to the saw with the other Vicky hand if that makes sense?

Thanks for digging up the vidoe Mark. Do you think the bar bounce was more pronounced with having greater lengths of unsupported bar (outside log)/frame flex?
Like the quick fix elevated work platform, suits where smaller lift increment can only be achieved.
Swing saw sent thru certainly achieved excelled old timer result. No need for a greater skip tooth design here mate. Seen one similar used for coming down on smaller logs for firewood cuts.
