No worries, I picked up on the way things are and we all aren`t word wizards. I have found that there is American english and English english, if that makes sense on the auto correct I have noticed some where. I have the odd type O here and there and have to Google some words, due to not looking right when typed but are right. Some words are hard to spell and I know them as soon as I see them. I wasn`t having a go at you, just making humour where I see it being able to be squeezed in and tis hard with out a smiley or a laugh on the computer.
Yeah mate so was I , and you're right these days depending on the device your using it can auto correct spelling and grammar , this one seems to guess what I'm going to type next but sometimes changes what I've typed which pisses me off .
Have to start going back and rereading what I've typed .

Try fried noodles(coconut oil, capsicum, turmeric etc) with TVP(boiled and fried in olive oil/coconut oil)
Tastes damn lot better than bbq meat, and high in protein than any other meat.
You can marinade TVP in cummin & turmeric overnight to produce a better meaty flavour.

On a serious note, I heard of a UK restaurant that used chicken stock in its vegetarian dishes, not right.

So a Vegan or vegetarian doesn't eat meat, but prepares it in such a way to try and make it look like meat............. why? I really don't get it. Is it the fact that deep down they really want to eat meat but for some deluded reason, can't let themselves succumb to their cravings?

Very funny, that ain't vegan. But, there are natural vegan flavouring out there you can buy for peanuts that can make TVP taste like any meat of your choosing.
I think wheat TVP tastes better than soy TVP, but it depends on what you like.
I'm yet to try wheat TVP. If you're gluten intolerant, wheat TVP won't do any good.

Yep, exactly as you described above, except the deluded part, 'cos the science is pretty clear about meat eating habit regardless of our liking for it.
I still like the taste of meat, so I occasionally prepare my shit meal with TVP.
I call it a shit meal, 'cos frying with oil and stuff to make it taste better ain't healthy on regular basis but damn satisfying when you do it in odd occasions. Vegans definitely have lowest cases of diseases like cancer, diabetes though.
Vegans & vegetarians die of heart disease all the time 'cos of addiction to taste and eating crap vegan food too much.
But, for the most part I am trying hard to separate the emotional comfort, addiction etc aspect of the food and take it as a nutrition.
It ain't easy as our cultures are built on food & when you have all the good tasting crap around it's pretty hard to avoid.
Finding other things to get the satisfaction we get from food is the key, but easily said than done.
Finding exciting hobbies is the way to go. Replacing regular sex for food addiction can be a good solution, but not sure how folks
manage it as a long term solution when testosterone start to wear out & folks would rather lie on the couch and watch old Seinfeld episodes.
I am fascinated by human biology and brain. We have a near 100% makeup of a herbivore like gorillas, yet we've developed a strong habit of meat eating quite a long time ago according to what we know so far. Our biological makeup and food habits are at odds with each other.
I've seen an elephant killing people and eating the body parts, but that one was a mad elephant(long story).
I dunno why we eat way too much meat knowing it does no good to our health in every aspects, but I intend to find out or at least come up with few theories.
One thing I'm 100% certain is our dairy consumption. We've gota stop consuming that crap. It hasn't done any good regardless of good percentage of population developing lactose tolerance. Besides, dairy has far far more toxic crap in it than any kinda meat.
I think the tastes are acquired and then set in the brain. You can see it clearly among different cultures all around the world when it comes to likes and dislikes. Delicacy in one culture is shit tasting crap in another culture.

That depends. Some people that haven't got all the facts right with climate change forget about the natural climate change.
There should NOT be any argument about man made climate change, but the degree of it.
We probably need to be aware the natural climate change can also cause mass extinctions as we already know that had happened
throughout the history of the planet.
People buying Toyota Prius' to save the planet is laughable though.
If they really wanna "save the planet"(meaning saving themselves of course, 'cos the planet doesn't need any saving :) ), they should start thinking about doing the things that they don't wanna do, like not eating meat, not driving any fossil fuel driven cars, not using fossil fuel driven electricity, etc. There is no chance that would happen, so we might as well enjoy our short ride on the planet. :)

bollox, that's like saying the Coeliac disease is due to people eating too much bread containing wheat, oats, rye or barley.......... it's genetics
Nope. Genetics always play a part in everything. Pregenetic disposition doesn't necessarily mean you get it. You just need to stay away from the crap that ain't good for your stomach/body. What's good for Joe ain't necessarily good for Jim.
As for dairy, you don't suckle your mom's tits as a grown up. That 'cos the stomach stops the production of enzymes that digest lactose for the most part. A very good reason to stop drinking. Cows milk is for calves, not for grown up people.
Protein need is also a whole lot of bull. Everything we eat has protein in it. Vegies do. Some grains have large quantities of good proteins. Only thing that is proven for animal protein need is the B12 story. That may be 'cos we lost the bacteria in the guts that produces it due to meat consumption. Who knows! We'll have to wait and see. Gorillas don't have no trouble with B12, and they are bloody strong with super strong muscles. Perhaps they eat termites, crickets, etc for B12. That's probably what we should be doing. :)
We'll learn more truth about this in next decade or so. In the meantime, it is safer for vegans to take a half a tablet of B12 a week.

spoken like a true veggie........... so why is it that my vegan sister who became quite ill, was told that taking supplements was not enough and she needs to start eating red meat. Also my iron deficient wife who takes iron tablets, was also told by docs to eat red meat? Both ate and eat plenty of the so called "proper" foods .

I became ill from vegetarian diet and then vegan diet. That 'cos we're stupid and think we can change our diet over night and think the crap vegan food we eat can give all the nutrition we need. Our culture is designed to get our nutritional needs from animal products.
You need to do lot of homework and eat shit loads of different vegetables, fruits, whole grains and shit like that if you're to stay healthy and strong as a vegan. Food addiction is a real thing. Our brain is wired to the stuff we eat regularly and get shit loads of pleasure from it. You can't easily go cold turkey if you're an alcoholic, a chain smoker or a drug addict. Food is a drug for our brain.
We get a high from it. If you're wired to get that high from meat through lifetime of eating it, it ain't gonna go away overnight 'cos you decided to go vegan for ethical, environmental or health reasons. Slow transformation is the way to do it.
As for GPs. They know shit about nutrition. The dietitians do. Find me a single dietitian that tells you dairy is good for ya, and I shut up. Dietitians are divided about meat. Biololgy is clear. We are 99.9999 herbivores but we are addicted to meat. I don't have all the answers. I only know it is bad for us in enormous quantities we consume it. As for iron, that's a whole lot of bull whoever the doc told you that. Green vegies like spinach, broccoli etc has shit loads or iron and it is the best way to get ya iron 'cos it doesn't come with ill effects of red meat.
Sure, there are meat eaters that live to 100 years, but not many. Vegans live longer and most importantly their dicks work pretty well in the old age and they don't pee like morse code 'cos vegan diet is damn good for prostate.
My advice for meat eaters is to limit it to weekend barbecue and once a week or so. You don't need anymore than that unless you're Usain Bolt or Ronnie Coleman. As for me, I don't need it at all.
I'm no veggie anymore. I am a recent vegan. Already seen results. No more killing back pains, knee pains or shoulder pains.
Back to weight lifting soon. :D, And I can eat loads of carbs and not put on weight. I've had no chance with that when I was eating meat while eating less carbs than I do now.
Prospective vegans need to find ways to satisfy their food addiction habits by experimenting with recipes and different foods.
It's either bland vegan food and no exercise or good tasting vegan food and regular exercise. Life ain't fair.

I like eating [emoji220] [emoji220] bugs and meat and fish aaaand bacon annnnd veggies. But I have stuff all milk. Only really when I'm making an omelette or scrambled eggs. Or certain cocktails [emoji106] But we are meat eaters. Our ancestors dating back to Neanderthal and in some cases the missing link (you know who you are) have eaten meat or blood n guts. It's not a modern day trend. Back when our indigenous brothers were ridding good ol oz of mega fauna it was to eat meat. Yes grains and veg were also heavily consumed. Balanced diet comes to mind. Saying we're meant to be vegan is the same as denying evolution and accepting creation as gospel

If Apes had not started eating meat over a million years ago, we as humans would not be here today. The extra protein led to brain development & the ability to learn & make decisions that led to a longer lifespan & more offspring. If this had not happened we would be still swinging from the trees.

That can get them into serious trouble though. For some people their veganism is like their alternative religion.
No, for some it is part of their religion, I worked with a hindu guy who said it was much harder to be vegan in Australia due to the availability of some foods.
In western civilisations veganism is often used to hide an eating disorder.

That is true to a certain degree, but it is no more true than drinking too much alcohol, chain smoking, drug addiction, eating too much meat, too much carbs, sugar, salt, etc etc.
Vegans have mental illnesses just as anybody else.
Hindus and Sikhs are(meant to be) vegetarians(drinks milk, but no eggs or meat).
It is not too hard to be a vegetarian in western world, 'cos eating eggs is also considered vegetarian(but not in eastern cultures). Since you can consume all the dairy products you won't miss much as a vegetarian in the western world. But vegetarians are generally kidding themselves. Dairy products generally can do far more damage to our health than meat.

Vegan eating is not that hard though. It is the dominant food culture that makes it bit hard. Most supermarkets store a wide range of vegetables, fruits and processed vegan foods. Eating potato chips fried in coconut oil or oilive oil & drink Coca cola everyday is 'vegan', but that will kill you quicker than meat eaters. It is the nutrition that we need to pay attention to. Eating different kinds of vegies, fruits, grains, nuts & seeds is the way to go. Avoiding processed foods as much as we can is also a good idea.
All the above is easily said than done 'cos it involves changing lifetime of habits. This is why many people switch to vegetarianism or veganism revert back to regular meat eating again.
By my first comment, I meant veganism/vegetarianism can replace traditional religion(s) for some people.
People who dumped all the traditional religions and belief systems, the veganism can enter through backdoor as a religious belief system.
Religion = Something irrational we believe in for emotional comfort of existential issues(Life after death, consciousness, etc)
Somebody can be a dedicated vegan by simply believe in the good of it without giving much rational thoughts to it.
The end result can be good, as long as vegan group A & vegan group B try not to kill each other.
I don't think atheist vegans lifestyle can turn them into ugly divisions like organized religions.
I suspect veganism or vegetarianism is evolving(or has already become) to be a new age religion.
I suspect our human brain is pre-wired to be "religious" one way or the other. In other words, if it not the god, a god, gods, spirits, elves, devils, etc, it will be something else. In that sense veganism may not be a bad idea as an alternative organized religion.
Pedantic vegans may end up doing some good for the future of the humanity and 'saving the planet'(figuratively speaking :))

Pictures of consumer meat products, or “brutally slaughtered and dismembered body parts of sentient and loving beings” is going to be seen in all parts of our society.
So what?!! So, does exploded arseholes of people. We see it the internet, TV, clinics, hospitals, schools, etc etc
Of course, it's your choice and your right to live in a bubble if you wish to do so.
Who gives a rat's arse about what I like or don't like? No need for you to worry too much about it mate, 'cos I even don't most of the time. I am well aware already the world does NOT revolve around me.
Meat addicts are here now. Meat addicts were in the past and they will be here regardless of what I like or don't like.
It will be shown on TV, in catalogues delivered to our letterboxes and will be seen in our supermarkets, you may not like it but it is not about to change.
Can't and don't give a rat's arse about changing anything. But, I will speak the truth as I see it regardless of who likes it or not.
Putting up photos of graphic medical issues without some warning is not acceptable in our culture or on the forum.
That's a load of bullshit mate. I dunno about your personal home culture, nor do I wanna know.
In this country it is perfectly acceptable to show medical issues in graphic form in internet, schools, TV, hospitals, clinics, roadside posters, etc etc. The government even go to the length of showing gory pictures of medical issues in cigarette packaging, etc.
Howz that for a reality check??!!!
As for the forum culture and what is acceptable/not acceptable is a tough domain for me, 'cos I'm no mind reader.
Try drafting a big document to give everybody an idea about what is acceptable and not acceptable.
But, try not to be a hypocrite while doing that.
I have not seen nor do I want to see dismembered carcasses of dogs and cats and that is not acceptable in our culture.
Neither do I. But, don't kid yourself, we slaughter feral cats and dogs and use their hides on beer cans and post them on internet to show the achievement on saving native animals. Dunno about which culture you live in, but the culture in here it happens big time in the outback.
The folks who do that display that as trophies. I don't hear mainstream culture here crying about that.
I grew up in a culture where that was common it probably would not bother me.
Probably eh?
The folks living in those dog/cat eating cultures themselves campaign against the shitty practice in their own cultures.
Dunno where your probability statistic end up. I hope it doesn't end up in dog/cat slaughterhouses in china.
I also choose not to look at videos of human cannibalistic practices and this also is not acceptable in our culture.
It is 'acceptable' in our human culture mate. When shit hit the fan we have a history of doing that, regardless of which culture we belong to.
I live in Australia, So, do I, just in case you dunno. I ain't living in a cow worshipping indian subcontinent or vegan amish country.
always have and always will and eating meat is acceptable here and I will not feel guilty continuing to be a meat eater or will I feel guilty posting photos of consumer meat products.
Nobody's going to take away your right to do that. Though, if you post photos of carcasses, be prepared to view the other end of the spectrum as well, otherwise you'll only displaying the degree of hypocrisy you carry and promote here. That also can be your right too. Just try to extend those rights to me as well.

I have Moderated your thread after returning from the snow trip, I probably would have shut it down on Saturday if I'd been around though. If AB want to reinstate it it is there but I don't think it belongs on NP.comYeah well said, now bring on some good old Yota memes. . .

Hi Dom
Sorry mate, I read the Vegan thread and clearly your passionate about the topic. Sorry mate but this is a Nissan Patrol Forum and generally we stay on topic. We have a strict code that we avoid Political Discussion and debate and retain a healthy A political position on everything except Toyota which is open slather.

This started with photos of peoples assholes with thier insides coming out and I do not believe that has a place on here.
The discussion about this was on one thread which was fine but for some reason he moved it to the Memes thread.
Thread is gone. Lets move on mate.
Darren may be right. Vegan stuff can get political & ugly. It's a sensitive subject for many meat eaters 'cos some of the people's livelihood depends on it. So, it can get political.
I'm bit sad 'cos we lost our sense of humour along the thread.
I was hoping for a fun and humorous debate.
But, I reckon it's bound to happen with controversial subjects like vegan eating.
No hard feelings mate. You eat what you like and I do the same.
Life is too damn short to get ugly over our belief systems or facts/truths as we individuals see it.

Sorry Rodney, mate we very rarely step in. In 6 years or so as a Mod here I can count on 1 hand how many time I have Moderated a thread. So few In fact I could count and still pick my nose in both nostrils. I kill spammers all the time but Rarely, Rarely kill discussion.
Clearly Dom is passionate about his lifestyle, I'm not discouraging him at all, but Nissanpatrol.com.au doesn't need a debate thread about the pros and cons of being a Vegan. If we left it stand how could I shut down a thread about religion politics or War.

I think you're reading the whole situation wrong Rodney.
I've only just got home myself and just read the thread and what Darren did.
There was no "bitching" or sooking or anything like that.
The thread was getting passionate from both sides and was clearly heading from a light hearted joking around and then began ramping up to more animal images from both sides and Darren made a call to stop it before it got out of hand which I support his decision.
I don't think there was any bitching going on, Darren saw something slowly brewing and made a call on his own, that's about it really...
