If you can use the original mounting bolt, just do that. Alternately MudRunnerTD, Rossco, @NB have all used different knots and hillbilly chants i believe on their ropes with success. Will have to redrill and tap or eszi out the broken bolt if mounting with the eyelet.

I would not stuff with getting the broken one out if its not sharp against the rope. Drill and tap a new Hole or see what the other guys can suggest. Are you going to remove the winch from the vehicle, if so then it opens up some access options, plus you might like to go with a welded bar 'hoop' on the drum so you simply pass the rope under the hoop and tie a big knot on the end, or have seen this on Thomas PTO, they drill a hole in the side of the drum side plate and pass the rope thru the hole and big knot, but you need the clearance to spin the knot.

Hi Jaycee, did the rope come with that lug like that or did you add it and crimp with bolt cutters? If it came like that then it is pretty average, if you did the crimp then it will do. I would add 1 more crimp though as there is room to do 1. If you have access to a hydraulic crimper then do it again.
I would probably use an ezyout and take the broken bolt out. It will be a through hole and not founded so should not be tight, it might be rusted though so some penetrative spray for a day will help.
If you can get a new bolt in that goes through that lug then happy days, do that. If not, I sourced some 5mm dyneema style rope off ebay and use a length to tie the rope onto the drum. I tie it too the welded ring on my Deltatek as I use 12mm rope and it would not fit through the lug.
You really want a good connection and at least 8 wraps around your drum for safety, this stuff is slippery but locks on well. Put the 8 wraps on then sitting in your car have someone walk out front holding up your rope until you can see it out front over your bonnet, when you can see the rope for the first time sitting in the car that is your safety length. Add a couple of metres for safety and then paint it yellow. That is then end of your rope. It it not a define measurement, it is a position on your rope, wherever it lands.

That bolt just holds the end so it doesn't circle around the drum all the time.
I've even just lay the rope along the drum and then run tape over it, then run the rest of the rope over the taped part as I wound it in.
I'd suggest you track down one these rope locks/brakes/bowties - https://www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au/Red-Winches-Plasma-Lock-ROPE-RETENTION-Device
82218
I've used one before and they really lock the rope onto the drum, you'll never risj running the rope off the drum if you use one. Also you may like to fit a sheath down the drum end of the rope, then you can tell when you're down to your last 1, 2, 3 metres etc.

Thanks, that one is a bit shorter and only allows 4 runs of rope v the 8 to 10 on the Red. After currancy converions there is not much in it. Both Road Runner and QuickAzz are out of stock of the redwinch ones and Quickazz are cheapest as they dont charge postage.
I will be buying one as long as it fits the 12mm rope though it. i like it.

Yo John, I brought a hook thats made with plasma/Dyneema in mind
Of course its a TJM product rated and didnt break the bank. Those rope
terminals make things neater, you can leave to hook off till its time to
go 4x4ing.
If youre going to hook the rope up under the patrol , can I suggest you
put some split tubing over the exposed section. stops it being sand blasted
while just driving around
I used to run this hook. What i dont like about it is that i hvae to punch out the pin to remove the hook and then the rope has a steel thimble on it and your washing machine wont like it.
Most comp guys have gone to this style of hook. This is what i have on my Himount.

It also wont get full of mud like the hinged type.

Hi mate, if you are going to but that rope lock the cut that tab off and seal the end with some heat shrink so it doesn't frey. If you splice in a loop to the other end for your hook all you do is put the loop through the hook hole the the other end through the loop. Lasso. That way there is No metal thimble to wreck your washing machine either.

Rocking & Rolling Now Jaysee Mate!
You’ve got your new welder, have a crack at a four sided tacking of an 8mm x 30mm rod or a half 8mm cut chain link in the corner of your winch spool?
Daz can guide you through a decent monkey fist type knot or double granny half arse it like me :-)
Sometimes we desperately need those extra few rotations beyond 8 maybe to say 3 overlapping hitched after a fixed mechanical knot?

I do get what you’re saying John-TD Mate but I’ve been running two of them (one ute/one wagon) for maybe 3-4 years now and original advisors of them finding trouble free too for decades I believe?
The rough hack handling low potential of the clip bending for me far outweighs other similar options getting mud clogged mechanisms and rendered useless when in desperate need out there.
Eliminating Bow Shackles and simply connecting these great big hooks direct to tree trunk protectors (both ends at once) has been a thankful honest game changer for us [emoji106][emoji106]

Got some prep work done today to finish off the winch tomorrow. Drilling into the drum there must be two parts. The drum must rotate on another shaft. So I drilled and tapped then rotated the drum to clear the inner shaft (this doesn't move)shortened the bolt to suit and it works. Dummy fit to make sure that it all lines up and painted the plate black. Will weld in the plate, attached the rope and bolt up the fairlead.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/91.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/92.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/93.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/94.jpg

Make sure that bolt thread length is only enough for the eye and the thread in the drum mate. The brake is inside the drum so the bolt must not protrude through. Just in case you weren’t aware....

Yeah, I worked out that bit after I drilled. I span the drum to clear the hole in the brake. I might take a little more off the bolt,

Good from far far from good, but hey it works. I know that I said that I wasn't going to paint the bar, but the paint blistered after welding in the plate. Had some black paint and touched up that area and it looked pretty good, so I washed down the whole bar with some mineral turps and gave it a fresh coat.
Now we really need to go on another weekend away so I can tension the rope.
Still need to sort out a winch switch on the bar and get some wires up to that roof console, but that's for another time.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/105.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/106.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/10/107.jpg

Probably not behind the grill, no room there, but like how the solenoid was mounted on the old one. Above and forward. Heaps of room and protected by the bar. I'll wait till the new bars on and see what options I have. Don't really want/like it on top of the bar.

Need some advice.
I know that some of you have a fixed solar panel on your rack.
My question is what size panel should I be looking at. I run a console fridge which I turn off when I know that I'm not driving the car for a day or two. I have forgotten and have found the fridge off and the battery low. Is 100w too little and is 200 too big. I just want to keep the battery topped up
Cheers..

Hey John mate. I personally think this depends on your charger type and/or your battery type .
Is the fridge fed off the main battery or aux?
I have a 110W panel on the roof. It charges a lithium battery which feeds my 47L fridge which is on 100% of the time all year round and unless I'm stationery camping the setup never falls below 90% battery charge all year round.
I use the Victron 12V gear.
Again like I said above. It depends on the rest of your setup. But for me the small-ish 110w works perfect. And if I need extra juice. The 120w solar blanket plugs straight in.

I run 2 x 200W panels on my rack. I went up from 2 x 60W shade tolerant canon panels that served me well, however I am a wasteful power pig when camping and want my food icy cold and drinks the same, plus run any amount of 12v gobbling appliances. Remember the power output is at 100% output and you are going to see maybe 60% at best of time, and its for a limited amount of time during the day, efficiency drops above 25degC ...blah blah. Anyway these keep my 400ah charged up nicely in 40degc and i am happy. .

I have a kings 120 watt solar panel on the roof running thru a MPPT kings controller. Supacentre is not bullshitting their specs like a lot of ebay sellers, it is 120 watts and it is MPPT and it is a fair price. Solar panels… 1 square metre of direct sun light = 1000 watts. At 18% efficiency a typical 1 x1 metre solar panel will max out at 180 watts. Remember this when you buy off ebay.
My kings setup runs my second shitty lead acid under bonnet battery with VSR which powers a crappy aldi 40 lt fridge all year round, with room to spare for the occasional travel buddy morning tea. Weekday driven about 50k to work and back😀

How do you validate these numbers? Solar density across Australia varies from 300 - 600w/m2 density from what I understand, and the 1000w/m2 is achieved in outer space and used as lab rating. For max efficiency I work on 600w/m2 and 16% efficiency, simply as a tolerance, as the latest NASA panels are pushing 22% but we are not able to access them, plus the panels are quickly de-rated at temps above 25 degC and the number of hours solar impact perpendicular to the panel. The MPPT controllers certainly assist with the optimisation, I just think the output is a lot less than perceived, hence why my panel area and watt output is high for the 6amp load- intermittent - from the 60L engel.
Happy to stand corrected, but from a marketing perspective, there isn't a marketing guy out there that will sell something based on real numbers, more on the maximum possible, even if its unachievable.

I have a slide out 100w panel under my roof rack because it’s only a 3/4 rack. The slide is simple square ally tube on each side running in ally angle slung underneath.
It has to be pulled out to be efficient. I’ve measured 5 amps on a good day with my clamp meter.
I don’t use a separate controller, I have the solar input on the DC/DC charger.

Dont really go as far as you to validate the numbers, I just measure the panels area in square meters, multiply by 1000, then multiply by .18. So the 120 watt kings one works out to around 120 watts. Then I hook up an MPPT controller, with an cheap inline monitoring device either side. A expensive fluke dmm is placed inline, along with the fluke dc clamp. I connect it to a lithium battery that needs charging, not a near full one.In peak sunlight if the panel is not too hot I get enough amps to suggest the 120 watt claimed output is close.🤪🤪

The steps are just the connection order for correct and safe operation of the controller:
1. connect battery
2. connect load
3. connect panel
Reverse the order when disconnecting.
You can skip the load connection if you are just using it to charge the battery without.

Forgot to mention that this panel pools water on top when stationary due to the raised folded edges. You can see it on top of my panel here.
Which is why I attempted to drill the corners as drainage holes and in turn shattered the first panel I had.

It is more work with 2 layers of panel to drill through but you access it just behind the rear seat belt cover.

A lot of these cable ideas from racks to inside the vehicle have a bit of a problem because water will run down the cable into the cab. You should have a drip point before the cable enters the cab in an upward direction if possible, or else well seal the entry point.

Battery has been showing signs the last month or so. Completely dead this morning, trip to Autobarn and picked up a supercharged NS70LX GOLD PLUS for $200. It's amazing how you get use to a dying battery. The new one fired up within a split second first thing in the morning.
Also, finally got a chance to give it a decent clean inside and out after last weekend's trip. With great surprise there's not too many scratches down the sides, considering the narrow tracks, they should all buff out.

Looking good John,
The remote Pos+ post Newby mentions are a bit of a winner.
Consider a subfuse block to distribute the load rather than just a bulk number of supplies. A Narva style fuse block for the win.
Assuming your using the narrative block inside the car then a single 50amp wire running off a Midi Fuse at the Battery would be ideal.
Also note, Jaycar sell a 15amp rated 7 core trailer wire which could also be handy for colour coded sheathed wire up the A Pillar. Anything that needs bigger just switch through a relay anyway so the switching circuit in the 7 core switching the relay for the win.

All done under the bonnet. Better than what it was, but still haven't decided on which block to use, all wires are rather under the dash or up to the roof console ready to be connected ordered a couple of things for the inside..
Last pic was before.

This has been pushed back due to others things, but I managed to get some patrol time in today.
I've only just discovered that my rocker switches are 4 pin and the new one that I brought for the radio is a 5 pin. I'm missing pin 6 which is lower dash light positive.
What do I use on the 4 pin switches to power up the lower light?
Cheers in advance..http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/10/62.jpg

Motivation day.
Finished off the wiring, mounted all the switches on a proper housing and the UHF in the roof console. Have the carpet in for a trial fit. Will get some foam from work to use as underlay.
Getting close now. Next will be to replace the springs to get rid of the horrible lean it has and some heavy duty sway bars as I keep breaking the front one.
Will need a new second hand steering wheel and a radio surround that doesn't have extra holes in it, then it's time of a Roady and club reg..
We're getting there..http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/24.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/25.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/26.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/27.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/28.jpg

That carpet is looking nice.
The only thing I would change is to move the USB charger from the overhead to the lower dash. Otherwise you will have charging cables hanging from the roof all the time.

Nearly there.
Had my son do the windscreen last weekend and between then and today I've just about finished the inside. Need to clean some more of the plastics, reinstall the fridge and fit all the plastic covers for the seats legs.
If anyone is going to replace their carpet I strongly recommend that you buy one with all the holes cut out, saves a lot of time and a bit of guess work.
Still to do.
Replace springs
New sway bars and links (will extended links pass a rwc?)
Steering wheel or cover.
Is it that hard to find a radio surround that hasn't been cut up with extra holes? Yes..
Don't think I will need anything else for a rwc, but we'll see..http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/67.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/68.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/69.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/70.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/71.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/72.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/73.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/11/74.jpg

What experience have you guys had good or bad with different brands. Tough dog, Dobinsons, EFS, OMG, KIng springs Pedders....
I currently have 2" flexie coils matched with 4" shocks and I'm happy with this set up, but I can't find anyone that makes them now.
Definitely want to stay at 2" lift.

G’day John Mate [emoji106][emoji106]
Bang for buck, I’ve been very happy with Dobinsons coils 4 corners for about 5ish + maybe 10 years now across GU’s & Q’s, maybe a baby Maverick too [emoji23]
Up front honestly though, far from a suspension expert I am but have replaced some of the originally bought ‘variable rate’ versions/variants with ‘constant rate’ near equivalents.
Reason being, I personally nuffy found that the variables (although greater load listed) than constant equivalents of lesser ratings listed sagged after a lot less after true variable alternating punishment if that makes sense [emoji23]

We'll today didn't go as planned. Was meant to be a straight in and out with the new springs and fit up the new sway bar links.
Swapped out the old springs, and discovered that 3 out of 4 shocks have no return in them. I checked them all when I started having the lean issue and all were fine. Anyway the old suspension set up is 7 years old and around 150,000 km , so probably over due, shocks are 41mm tough dog foam cell,
Recommendations, stay with tough dog (which I've been happy with) or go with something else..

Well I was hoping on possibly being the first GU on club reg, still might happen only taking a bit longer than expected..
Being buying up the last few weeks and today was patrol day.
New Springs and shocks (took MB advice) and rear brake pads. Steering wheel and radio surround was a good score at the local wreckers.
Old tough dog foam cell did around 150,000 km in 7-8 years and now have no return. Replacing the 25 year steering with one with no rips and I reckon the best score was the radio surround with only 2 little screw holes and nothing else, never seen one without and antenna switch.
Question on the sway bar links..
You can see that once I cut the thread to size it won't line up straight to the bar, if I force it, it will have a lot of pressure against it. What am I missing here.

John, did you take the car into their workshop and get them to weigh it, each corner before selecting the springs? Did they fit the springs or you? I had them do the lot to ensure the right 'numbers' went into the spring selector and ensure it was sitting flat after the job. I have dobbo springs and like them and their service. I use the Dandenong workshop.

No, I didn't know that they offered that service. I ordered the springs through road runner and discovered the shocks were no good a couple of weeks later and ordered the IMS with road runner again.

While it was there I got a full exhaust system fitted as the original was well due for a change.

Ok, just about got everything done in the driveway at home.
The ac compressor has decided that it doesn't want to come out. Got the 2 bolts from underneath out and one next to the engine mount, there's one more somewhere between the tensioner and the compressor. I've taken out the only 2 that I can see and it still won't budge. It needs to pull away from the block but it won't..
That and the trailing arms, which are going to be fun to get out. Not looking forward to tomorrow.

I changed my oil with 20 50 and filter no difference. I've had the air intake off, changed the oil pressure switch and the rocket cover gasket over the last few days.

Take the rocker cover off and start the engine up. If oil squirts everywhere you have a dodgy switch. Or put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in and go with that.

Now I'm pretty sure that this is wrong and now is the time to fix it.
I have a 10 blade fuse box and a 120amp breaker with 4 awg cable.
You can see that everything is pretty close.
At the most I'll be running 2 fridges, a freezer, the little 12v oven (while the car is driving)and then it's lights and charging points. If I was to assume 10 amp per slot = 100 amp breaker. I know that I'm not at 10 amp for every slot, so will a 70 amp breaker work and what size cable should I be using.https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/03/54.jpg
While I'm on the topic, sort of..
Is this worth it. It pwm not mppt.

You need to make sure that a short circuit at the end of the run is sufficient to trip the breaker. With a 12V supply and a 70A breaker that means a total fault circuit resistance (battery + to battery -) is less than 0.17 ohms (Ohms law R = E/I). It is the resistance that drives what size cable you should use, but bigger is usually better where 12V is concerned. The low value fuses will protect individual circuits (assuming similar principles are applied) but that big breaker needs to protect the main power buss. And it should be as close as possible to the battery.

It is the resistance that drives what size cable you should use, but bigger is usually better where 12V is concerned. The low value fuses will protect individual circuits (assuming similar principles are applied) but that big breaker needs to protect the main power buss. And it should be as close as possible to the battery.
Cheers mate.
I do understand what you're saying to a certain extent. I know how it should all work, just don't understand the values. Your equation of Ohms law went flying over my head..
Thanks for your input..

Okay brainiacs need some help here.
How can I mount the fridge securely. It's going to sit on the gray plate so even if it's securely mounted to that, it's only two bolts at the front to remove the whole thing.
The case only has the four eyelets on each corner and the handles are molded.https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/133.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/134.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/135.jpg

If the fridge has handles, tie it down with them. You could connect the strap you use to connect to the 2 bolts at the front and someplace at the rear. If you just tie down the front you may find the fridge bounces up and down fron those 2 front bolts.
I wouldn't trust the tie downs on the bag, the bag will just rip I reckon.

And as BrissieBoy said, keep all your fuses as close to the battery as possible.

A few of us, led by MudRunnerTD, have utilised old rear seat frames that mount to the existing points in the car, then put the plate you show welded to the frame. This gives you an air gap under the fridge for further storage and opens up the range of mounting concepts. I would use a thimble with a threaded male extension - can get them at Bunnings for a couple of dollars each - I think the M8 units are rated at 230kg each point. Simply drill a hole in the sheet steel and bolt them in, nuts accessible as well, rather than on the floor and rubbing holes in the carpet. You should be able to buy an old crappy seat off gumtree and strip the base and back off it, AB might be able to post up his solution, recently completed. I have platforms made for both sides of the GQ.

Here's the stand I use for my Engel. The stand connects to a mount in the floor underneath it and the shelf behind it.
I use straps through the handles which go around the frame of the strand.

Thinking of something like 2nd pic screwed into the handle area and then 3rd pic into the plate.

Yep, the thing to look out for is whether the cable between the battery and the fuse is likely to interfere with anything else and cause a short. You could have the two seperated by a mile if you know that nothing is going to cause a short along that mile of cable, or in other words, between the battery and fuse.

You kinda get the idea. The hook in the 2nd pic is screwed in from the top because I wasn't sure how the self tapping screws would go. If I need to I can drill out the holes and nut and bolt it. A bit more progress this weekend.
Brought some insulation and made my own shades. Neeed to take out the fridge and cage to do the L/R side. Bit average on the inside, but they work. Simple velcro around the edges for easy removal. Going to do the same for the rear passenger doors.
Tried out the water tank with a gravity fed hose and tap, I'm going to put a pump in. The design of the tank which allows for a hump separates the water on each side, that's why there's two outlets. Once one side gets down you use the other side. What I'm going to do is run both outlets into a y fitting and then that one will run into the pump.
I did have the sub tank light on the dash come on. I've never had that before. I disconnected the battery for a few hours. Put it lback on and the light disappeared. Do I need to run another earth strap for the sub tank if so, where.https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/157.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/158.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/04/159.jpg

So I picked up a cargo barrier off marketplace for $50. Man what a mission. In the end I had to remove the backing of the fridge cage and work out how to mount the bottom of the barrier. Then make up brackets to mount the top and reposition the electrical components as they now sits higher. A fair bit of mucking around because of the draws, but it's now securely in place. I've had to spin the freezer 90 degrees as it didn't fit.
Managed to also fit a water pump and plumb it to the tank, because of the design it has 2 outlets one on each side. I plumb both sides to one and then to the pump. Didn't quite work, am I asking too much from the pump?https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/05/3.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/05/4.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/05/5.jpghttps://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/05/6.jpg

The diaphragm pump has a poor suction capability, which is why they only rate the discharge head. You will do better lowering the inlet of the pump to the same level as the tank outlet, then it should work fine.

I did try it at a lower level, but probably not long enough to get the air out. It was late and I was getting impatient I will give it another go on the weekend. I'm not sure how you tell, or if there is an inlet and outlet side to the pump, but in the 'features' screen grab you posted it states that it has a "Special valve for liquid input and output".
Maybe the hoses are hooked up the wrong way round and the valve is stopping the full flow?

I think this refers to the diaphragm valve inside the pump so it sucks in liquid and the valve closes then the diaphragm discharges against the closed seal, pretty normal, there will be a flow arrow on the pump and if connected with correct polarity it should work but its only self priming with a positive head on the inlet side i suspect. To improve operation a check valve could be mounted in the supply line from the tank to the pump so water does not siphon back away from the pump, pretty cheap way to resolve that, as jaysee said its going to be a simple fix.water

What are you expecting or wanting to get from the tank and pump? Are you looking to fill a pot or use it for a quick shower or wash mud from a clogged radiator? I think this is the starting point in all honesty. Linking the hoses or running them singly will get you the same result as the inlet head is the same. You just achieve twice the volume to draw down. If you want a higher pressure then consider a small pressurised accumulator like they use in a boat water system. Like this one. I was going to use it on my radiator spray bar to even out the diaphragme pump pulse, but in the end it wasn't necessary.https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186381980593?itmmeta=01HXKVE8543XYYH17TZWPPVVKJ&hash=item2b653b53b1:g:xjgAAOSwx7RivSVT&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8BUPrOqLV3ZjixFxqokfKNx2SRr6a IixiuaPtwDalQajX%2Fti6nekTQ%2B7GXV4txGIg6gzZDlRhFj SaNNYKBjw9sD

If the water is above the outlet level and the hose clamps are tight it can only be a hole in the hose or a hole in the diaphragm of the pump or a torn diaphragm I think? PIA issues, i feel for you.

I was going to suggest you simply flip it upside down, but then I saw the filler.
I'd just leave some wiggle room and when the outlet side got low, I'd just lift it up and drain from the full side to the empty side, that's what I did with my bladder.
Or just top the thing up, never a bad idea to circulate your water.

John, I assume the tank has a breather in the cap? If not it will suck in and stock flowing with either a pump or gravity. A small hole , say 3- 5mm dia would be fine, you could screw in a pneumatic airline fitting and add a small length of airline to raise the air point and also stop any nuisance splashing out of the take breather.

Yep, but the increase in pressure only needs to be a poofteenth to generate massive velocity out the nozzle ( 5PSI across the total area of the tank is a massive discharge force.). What I dont like about that idea , is the water jet is going to be very fast so more splashy and likely to waste more than say a steady stream via gravity, plus you need to switch it off pretty quickly as the pressure will build fast and get progressively worse - FAST.. I guess if you want to wash a car or similar the added velocity which will equate to volume is fine but for a billie fill or a quick wash of the hands , slow and steady would be my pick. I think I have mentioned before that Jenny and I burned thru 30L in two days at dalhousie because it was 28 deg and the springs well above that, and we didn't waste any, decanted it from a jerry with a hand pump. The electric pumps are a quick way to lose track of your fixed water storage in my view, but you know, its connected now, and there for a reason and choice, it works, get used to it I guess and see how it goes - easy to convert to gravity if it becomes a problem.
Regards the discharge height, well my water tank hoses hand out the door and terminate about 8" off the ground so pot filling and hand washing is not too bad. - Just a comparison but maybe work considering also as pots are on stable ground as well instead of trying to do the octopus 5 arm shuffle.

Apologies jaysee [emoji51]
Philstar, what if the air compressor (onboard always and needed offroad anyway) was permanently connected to a water tank with a basic pressure small lightweight valve/regulator? Of course the hose sump/outlet would need a severely reduced end on it with a valve/tap for water trickle if needed careful saving or high pressure squirting potential? [emoji848]

No need to worry about it guys, no on board compressor..

I would run a pressure regulator limited to no more than 5psi. Anything more and the tank could split. Running pressure in a plastic tank is asking for problems.

[emoji51] Apologies John Mate, I take full blame for bastardising temporarily your Build Thread Brother [emoji22]
Pictorially, in sequence, I guess this is what I was trying to suggest to Philstar:

The first three (3) photo examples are similar to what we use at work to connect to mains water garden hoses to vary between taking a trickle sip of water when thirsty in the yard to also carefully blasting truck radiators or full tilt mud blasting pinpoint out of their tipper corners at a long distance etc…[emoji106][emoji106]

Yep, I get it, but NO, leave it as it is if you want the pump and pressure would be my recommendation.

Well I've done it again.
Electronics and me have a long battle before we're both on the same page. This time I brought a kickass battery monitor
https://kickassproducts.com.au/products/kickass-500a-battery-monitoring-shunt-with-remote-display?variant=47678444667159¤cy=AUD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=17074212126&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw97SzBhDaARIsAFHXUWB7wo5gdksA46OEaUcY BsokhzqZlPX4icG8GBqIjdsvCG55t3FKIrwaAudQEALw_wcB
It seems to look like I'm only going getting volts. I had a fridge and the freezer both on and compressor running on both when I took the picture and still showed just about no amps.
Negative on the battery to -B on shunt and -P on shunt to ground (metal body)
Have I got the -P side of the shunt correct?https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/06/52.jpg

Well it looks like my rear bar isn't going to make the big trip. From a completion date of the 16th to the 18th to the latest today, it's still not finished. I went out and spent some.
Main reason was to carry 2 Jerry cans, that's not going to happen so I went out today and updated my rack to carry the cans, a spare tyre, maxtraxs and what whatever else I what to throw up there.
While out today picking up things all over the place I also got a bushwakka 270 awning.
With eofy savings it was a good time to upgrade.

Yeah, pissed about the bar. Millweld have no communications, it's like when it's finished you will get it..

Guys I need some help in naming this part.
It sits between the maf sensor and the intake pipe, as you can see it's f@#ked.
Cheers..https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240914/325125a0339847d503c847c95c3f7d41.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240914/17aae90c89cf0ca86c624914b3a4538b.jpg
