we have both the wifes tiida and my patrol covered by progressive direct http://www.progressiveonline.com.au the are an online only insurance company and have both vehicles covered for agreed market value even with the mod's on the patrol i believe the patrol is covered for close to 40K this an 03 GUIII 3.0LT. the wifes car is coveredfor about 18K and when she put in claim for damage done by our removalist (who managed to clean it up whilst delivering our furniture) it was all done on line and i think 2 or 3 phone calls to there one operator her car was fixed in no time and they gave her a rental to run around in as well. the premiem is dirty cheap compared to most because it is all done online and from memory we both cars done for the same as it was going to cost us for the patrol by its self with most of the main line companies.
Hi All,
Just renewing the Patrol Insurance at the moment! Cant believe we've had her almost a year!!!
Anyways, we're with AAMI, and always found them to be good (1 car stolen and other written off within a week of eachother - and they were great on both claims).
But the renewal came through with agreed value of $7350We could never replace her and the extras for that - so i called them up and explained that.
They added value to the extras (cargo barrier, bull bar, spots etc) and the agreed value went up to $7700 - still not enough.
Also made some changes to the policy (removed hire car etc) and saved nearly $15 a month ($65 from $79).
However the lady informed me that after 16th June they can insure you for whatever value you request (within reason i assume, and obviously there will be an additional premium for this).
So after 16th i'm gonna call up and ask them to increase to $10,500, and see what the extra premium is going to be.
Will let you all know![]()

Just an update on the above post . . .
I spoke to AAMI yesterday about this, and they have increased the Agreed Value to $10,000.
My premium has increased by $5 a month to $70 a month now - but i'm alot happier that we are covered for more![]()

Very interesting thread... I had a look at the TCIS website and it says " Modifications No restrictions applied to vehicle modifications providing the vehicle remains legally roadworthy." http://www.tcis.com.au/html/fourwheelmotor.htm
Are TCIS sticking to this or covering vehicles lifted more than 50mm (which is techically illegal / unroadworthy in most states)? What does the fine print in their policies say?

This led me to check out TCIS as well. I found the site a little confusing, was it only for members of 4x4 clubs or generally available ?
On the legality thing - My best guess is you would have to be within the letter of the law in your own state or they would have an out.
Cheers, Tuck
im with allianz too they were cheapest for mine and offered choice of agreed or market
just got a quote from aami for 2004 patrol dx 4.2 for agreed value 35k for $546 so happy with that.
I hate being a P plater. My Patrol is insured for 10k with RACV and I pay $140 per month with a $1500 excess.
TCIS in SA specialise in 4WDs and camping gear. eg if some feral steals your camping gear when out & about. I have their covernote and details on my email as a pdf. Just need someone on the forum to tell me how to add it to the post ??
