It might stay a 4spd for a while longer I think.
Ring places that possibly do engine conversions etc... There's a LOT of barra conversions going on. Therefore a LOT of redundant gearboxes laying around somewhere.

Thats a great idea. Or @mudski join a Barra conversion group of FB and ask if anyone has a gearbox in the shed.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

What are the chances!
I replaced the fuel filter a while back and noticed the lift pump wasn't holding pressure anymore.
It would need a good 20 pumps if left sitting for the night.
Ok, easy, it has to be what I have just done. Check bleeder, check drain, check fuel filter, etc.
Everything looks fine. I took it off and on again multiple times.
I have never had a problem with my fuel pressure.
I just found this whilst waiting for Mia's school bus. That little tiny injector bleed return line looks to be the culprit.
What a perfect time for that to happen exactly the same time as I replace the filter!!!

All good. I found a s/h box from a 2008 low 100thou on the clock box. George will be doing the r & r for me. Now I'm thinking do I get the Mark 10% overdrive reduction gear now, since I have saved over 2K. This would bring my revs at 100kph from 2450 to 2205rpm.
Hmmm.

I would for sure.
I struggle on freeways, the Simmo trip will not be fun for me @ 110kmh

Mark, I have this conversion and I am now sitting in the sweet spot for max economy at 110klm/hr at 1750rpm.Unlike the 85% reduction gears that howl all day in low range the machine finish is excellent on the overdrive gears - silent as stock standard.

Looks good, the extra pipe length would add restrictions in the order of 4 decimal places - not an issue, clever about the drop end to keep the water out. I have never had a problem with my forward facing safari head, or maybe the water simply was very small and evaporated from bonnet heat?

Do you have a link for this reduction? I don't even have the power to push current 5th gear yet, but this is an interesting thing to know it exists.
