Shocker rod protection from stones and accumulated mud

My Amadas cam with the corrugated covers that have a Grove at the base of the shock and big enough to go around the body of the shock at the top. I have fitted them and used zip ties to hold the top in but they are hopeless, every time I go out the top let's go and they end up just full of mud and water, pointless. So what i have recently done is embraced the failure and disconnected the bottom of the cover and clamped the top only around the body of the shock and left the bottom open and hanging free. This should provide impact protection and also let it drain. I will let you know how it goes. Lol
