    Cheers Rod.
I drove the same route back in september. But i had stock wheels and tyres and had no roof rack. I also didn't have the gauges, so have no clue what temps were doing and yeah it was fine with those hills. However, it's Different now ...

As I said, I'm not after nor do I expect super power from it. I am 90% positive I won't be towing a caravan or camper trailer or anything for many years to come . I'd just like to have it running "right" . If that makes sense. I'm happy to drive it around like a truck chugging along...
But yeah, after this weekend gone I need to do something...

Matt, it never ever crossed my mind about the diffs. I will do some reading as I'm fairly naive when it comes to that. Cheers.

I was on standard gearing and 33's (still am). 3" exhaust, 12-13psi and get it tuned and it'll be heaps better than stock. That's how mine was when I picked it up and I drove Melbourne to Sydney on cruise in 5th the whole way, maybe except for 1-2 hills.
    Cheers Rod

What sat on 21c surely not water temp. and water temps will have nothing to do with your EGTs.
Id think your water temps should be about 85c to 90c

Nah the gauge or the redarc gauge receiver is broken so it's always frozen on 21 now ... so couldn't get true coolant Temps.

Water Temps will be influenced by egts. Engine gets hot from egts which in turn heats up the cooling system. ..

Your thermostat will regulate your water temps

I have heard a number of people with issues with red arc and hard to justify the cost when the reliability is not there.

Thermostat regulates flow which allows more flow to radiator thus exchanging the higher temps.

The cooling system can only do so much. If egts are sustained at 450+ degrees for a long time they will have an effect on coolant temperature if the system cannot cope.

Yeah I noticed this on my trip up the south coast of NSW. If I kept my EGT's under 240c, my water temps would sit on 90c, sometimes 85c. If I held the EGT's at 260c, my water temps would rise 5c.
