Roof rack sliding off

Bit unsure if this is the good location. Anyway, I have been looking at videos of Cape York and also some fail videos. I came across this video ( https://youtu.be/NCWQ0ihnQAM) and some photos of roof racks slidding off.

Looking at my own full length roof rack with tent, jerry cans, kayak holder and kayak, I am aware I am pushing the limits.
Did anybody secure there roof rack with extra safety measures besides the standard clambs?

Things I can think of, is filling the gutter just before and after the clambs with some metal, drilling a hole through the gutter and bolt/nut it up.

Trouble as I see it the old style rook racks you clamped them to your gutters.
The more you tightened them the harder the clamp force.
I just fitted an ARB copy, I cut some hard plastic strips and some bike tube to secure it.
I just reversed into my carport last week taking out a beam, only moved the rack 6mm if that

Looking at that video I'd put it down to driver error,
I would be checking roofrack bolts along with
a heap of other dailly checks.

That RR has only two bars from the look of it, mine has three therefore six mounting clamps verses four on that one. Also I wonder how much weight is on the RR. Like TD, I have ave never had mine move a mm or come loose and thats three years on and off road. If its reputable brand, mounted properly and not overloaded should be OK.

he needs to go back to the drawing board.
3 Rhino aero bars would've suited his needs
As 4bye4 noted a name brand fitted correctly
should not move.

Mine is a tigerz11 roof top rack which will carry the roof top tent in the rear and a kayak mount (which is mounted at the two front bars) and some jerry on the front

I clamped it to the gutter and it looks pretty solid but still wondered if it would be sufficient. Daily checks might indeed be the key!

Try to avoid steel on steel when you mount it, cut some rubber so it absorbs a few vibrations
and it also allows a little give. Daily checks would be manitory in my books.
