    head gasket gone - worth a repair

    hi,

    it looks lime my headgasket is broken... Y60 TB42e 1996 with 310000 km - worth the repair?

    will first try if just the cooler cap is leaking...

    If you intend to keep it yes not sure of a price for a reco gas head
    Plenty of miles left on the motor
    04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

    I did the repair myself and believe it was worth it. Mind you I didn't get the head checked, I just bought a brand new one. My old donk has over 400000 and with the new head, doesn't burn a single drop of oil. Bottom end is tough as nails. I just had the sump off and was able to check some clearances with a feeler gauge and it's still within tolerances. At the lower limit as well.
    Use a genuine head gasket if you do repair, even possibly a tb45 one.
    IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.
