I had a amusing conversation with a bloke at a bearing place yesterday. I told him about our tour and then he started on how the ARB air lockers are made in China and not to be made here like ARB claim. I told him that we all walked past the machines milling the steel for all the components and saw all the air locker boxes sitting there, he didn't believe me and insisted he was right. I just said I don't know how to respond to that, I must have been seeing things then.

Not to worry guys, was just as much my fault as I did feel a bit out of place. (You people are all so bloody tall) It was my first outing and not knowing anyone did make it hard.
My work commitments have changed due to a long jury service so the meet up at wombat is looking like a good chance to try to meet some of you again for the first time.

As for the tour agree on not hearing anything while at the back, but very impressive operations.

Glad to read you guys had a great time.
Interesting about the locally made items, especially the locker.
Still wonder why they are so much cheaper in the US, buying market share?
Dumps on us here in Aus though. And I for one don't like being treated like that.
    Cheers

From the websites I've seen, it's not a massive difference.

    Here's two:
    USA http://www.rocky-road.com/arb-air-lo...mpressors.html
    Straya http://shop.snakeracing.com.au/searc...ery=Air+Locker

Using an IFS 100 series as a guide, on those two sites there's about $100 in the difference(take exchange rate into account).

Now this is just a guess, but I'd say they buy a sh1teload more lockers in the US than they do in Australia and probably also have more locally grown competition over there too, so they have to offer a lower price. Kind of makes sense in that context.

The tour was a definite eye opener for me, disspelled a lot of myths.

Guilty of not checking current pricing, when we had the Hilux about 3 1/2 years ago the dollar was stronger and the difference was AUD $700.00, they would have been exporting with that exchange rate too.
I looked elsewhere when buying for my Patrol because of that. But I'm like that LOL.
    Cheers

Would like to thank David, John and all others involved for their time and knowledge, it really is quite impressive, definitely something to be proud of.

Have always loved ARB's gear and been happy to pay a little extra knowing all their products are bloody well engineered and reliable when you need them.

Cheers again, keep up the good work.

I enjoyed myself, and also enjoyed hearing a great Aussie story.

One small suggestion for improvement, as you are doing these tours regularly, was that I found it difficult to hear what was being said at times over the noise, so some sort of small amplification system would be a real bonus.

    Thanks again

    Mic
Mic, this is something we are currently looking into. It's been a little while since we ran a tour, and I think a lot of people around here forgot what it's like to be at the back.

    Cheers for the feedback though.
