    Petrol or diesel???

I have to put a new engine in my MK. The L28 is the easier option but ill source the SD33T if its really that much better. Opinions on the L28 would be great!....

Depends on what you are using it for, but in my opinion you would be better to put in another L28 ..... probably $500 for that age motor and it drops straight in with no other modifications

If you want to go diesel, then it will end up costing over $5k once you source all the bits and do the necessary changes, and the costs wont be worth the benefits unless you keep it for 10 years - and I think that would be unlikely

Thanks mate. I wanna make a 4wd, so long as its got plenty of low end I should be right. I've been told the L28 is pretty good like that???

The l28's can go hard - a sd33t will go a lot harder.

If you can pick up a donner vehicle it would be a reasonably cheap mode.

You may make it hard to find a l28.

I put a rb30 in my old MK - was a good increase in power - but it was a lot of work. My tb42 gq goes a lot harder still.

Yeah, the problem with the SD33T is they're hard to find, and expensive to find a good one. Id love to put a td42 in but thats more expensive again. How does the L28 handle boost?
