35's in the high country that's why I have 4.6 diff gears, so I'm under geared with the 33's and could possibly get better economy on long runs at 100 kph

The 4 cyl diesels economy is on par with the 6 when heavily loaded, on the recent trip we did the hilux's best economy used 10 lt less fuel than my 4.2 , sometimes less than that, seen similar with the GU 3 lt and prados.

Just to clarify Liftlid, you are talking about ~10lt less per tank? When you were doing same K's and terrain?

Only measured fuel consumption once on my 2005 4.2 TDi ex Telstra ute with the pod on the back and got 16lt/100km. I'm still running cheesecutters. haha.

99.99% of my driving is on country roads and is mostly driven in a head/cross wind. It doesn't help that the pod protrudes externally of the cab, as it basically acts like a wind anchor.

That's probably why I sit on about 90k's everywhere I go. lol.

Just did a economy check from Casula to North Lakes with a 2 hour stop and go stint in Sydney. I usually drive at or above the posted speed pulling a camper trailer and one box on the roof.
