So doing some research tonight about the Desert Park Pass. It is available at Mt Dare and is $150 and each car must have one. It is also available online and wondering how many of you guys are going to buy it over the counter at Mt Darr and how many have purchase online??

You also now require a Sand Flag 2m above the roof or 3m above the bull bar,(new this year) and a Queensland permit for the QAA line--last leg into Birdsville
If you plan an east-west then west-east you can call SA Parks and they will send you the Desert Parks Pass --payment by credit card works.

They need to be 3.5m from the ground so probably won't cut it, we will check them out on the weekend, or I can bring a few sticks of conduit which are 4m long or we can cut them of course.

I have a dozen so we could also clamp two together but it may too over the place. Well test them out.

i have a telescopic one from opposite lock, very solid and of course can be set a varying heights. I need it here as there is more beach and dune type stuff and the flat endless bush it helps to see oncoming vehicles.

Okay obviously normal tent pegs aren't going to work in the Simpson sand, I went to the shop to see what alternatives are available. How am I suppose to use this to hold my tent down? The pegs won't fit through the tie downs on the tent.
