    Why is the name of the phobia for the fear of longwords Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?
    I can only give you my opinions as to why.
    Possibly to allow the person to look it up and face the fear alone.
    Or to be cruel.


    Why is it called a TV set when there is only one?

    The original televisions consisted of a large picture tube and several glass tubes or valves (before transistors) in order to work. If you didn't have the complete "set"of tubes, or valves you didn't see anything.
    Similar story in todays times, nothing to see on TV.

    Jesse W. Reno , produced the first working escalator and installed it alongside the Old Iron Pier at Coney Island, In New York City in1896. Originally only used for moving people up an incline. In later years they were used in a downwards fashion. The word remained the same.

    Why do they refer to a 4WD with a lot of accessories as having 'all the fruit'?

    If you look at the brands, they are all animals eg. tough dog, old man emu, black widow, tigerz, foxwing, etc
