Am still considering it Benk, just haven't had a chance to do it. Work is pretty flat out at the moment, infact I'm not even home at the moment. But I will be doing it one day.

New grill installed. Looking bling! Just need to get some leave from work so I can crack onto the rest of the painting to complete the look. Then maybe some negative offset rims to finish it off...

    Had some engine troubles(see here http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...33-Cactus-tb42 )
So went about removing the head to hopefully find the cause.
Somehow I managed to lift this out of the car by myself.

Feeling it now though. Anyway, head gasket seems to be in tact all way around, but the water passages are looking very blocked, so I'm guessing that the head has been cracked due to poor circulation.

I had a quick look at the underside of the head but couldn't see anything, is there any obvious points where they crack?
Either way I've got a replacement head on its way. Just hoping it is the head now that I've ordered one, and not something small like the oil cooler....

But the bores look amazing. There is a tiny ridge at 400000km but there is still cross hatching!! Will give it a proper clean up and hopefully put the new head on in the next few days.

Thought about putting new rings on it, but I really need to just get back on the road.

Then do not bother about rings...... still has good honing marks.

The only thing about doing the head while the engine is still in is you are going to hate the tightening procedure for the head.... faarrking hard!!!!!!!

Can do it with a good torque wrench but if you can get a degree wrench for the final tightening that would be more precise..

What gasket you getting?? are you just ordering the head and exhaust manifold gaskets??

Not entirely sure about what type of gasket I'm getting. It's one of those vrs gasket kits that has everything included.
