Bogged: how you got in and out again

I've looked through the bigger "bogged" threads here but they all seem to be abandoned (last post 2-3 years old). So here goes a new one.

I'd be interested in a thread which shows where you guys got bogged, why you got bogged, how you got out and really what you've learned.

I finally got myself bogged for the first time and now I feel like a real man.
Of course it was stupid and of course it could have been avoided. But I just wanted to try that steepest slope.

I learned that when all 4 wheels are in the air the car doesn't drive. Go figure.
Also that the winch alone won't get me out of all situations.
Lastly that trying to get back first is a good idea.

Went flogging into a bog hole for some "momentum" being a leaf sprung 4x4
got hung up big time on the spring hangers. Got a mate to snatch me out backwards
Cost me plenty in repairs, what did I learn, bog holes are just wrong.
If I can avoid them I will, Then again I love river crossings go figure LOL

I know what you mean. It feels dumb after the 10th boghole to still get out and check the depth but better save than sorry.

    Where: Arthur river tas.
How he got bogged: soft steep sand.
Why he couldn't get out: crappy disco did a cv on the 5th attempt out.
How he got out: hilux tied to a GU snatched him out.
Doesn't look like it in the pic but the water was half way up his spare tyre. (it's deep muddy water behind him not shallow water)
