    Failed axle seal

AXLE 1.JPGThis is the seal I replaced today after a play on Friday afternoon went wrong, busted seal, busted radius arm bush, 2 flat tyres, limped home Saturday morning, stripped it Saturday arvo & rebuilt the lot today & back on the road again but I only had Friday arvo & Saturday off this weekend, the grease is pouring out after I removed the hub bolts, nicely mixed with diff oil

Those seals are a bit fragile. Sometimes they get damaged as the axle is replaced. I'm guessing that your axle must have flexed quite a lot to rip into it like that.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

that top pic is upside down for some reason, I was doing a rock climb & felt it slipping backwards & sideways at the same time so I powered into it to get it over, the front left started to shudder, popped the tyre, I knew I was in trouble but gave it more hoping to make it anyway, rear tyre popped its bead on some rocks, pressure maybe a little low, I made it over sortof by winching & before getting out I was thinking $$$$$, I think the radius arm bush had failed previously as the steering was funny & it moved around under brakes for a couple of days prior hence the shudder, I limped it home the next morning, tyres didn't hold, pumped them every 30 minutes, steering was everywhere, no effective brakes because they were coated in grease/oil, luckily I didn't burn out the bearings on the way home. The tyres are now fixed, previous plays in bog holes jambed bark & crap in the beads behind the weights, I had them wire brush the tyre & rim beads, throw the lead weights & fit bead/pebble to the tyres like the trucks have, the guy says it is better than the weights, self balancing, time will tell I suppose

I had never heard of it before, I have since heard of some people use sand in the tyre to balance but it didn't work apparently, the principle seems good
