Ask all your general ( none related forum ) computer questions here

Yep yep dw I wasn't offended either, just statin my reasoning. I fully get what u say with it needing to be clicked on... BUT someone would have to do a pretty good job to make something look genuine enough to be tricked by it. Most of the time windows defender(free with w7/8)will pick up anything malicious if ur hdds are indexed. I have 13tbs of data to protect so trust me I'm pretty dam careful and anal with my computer use.

Back on track, my mate is a bit of a whizz at computers and he never uses anti virus. Just firewalls his computer real well and backs up on separate HDDs. He cleans, re installs and refreshes his computer every few months so gets rid of anything then

    Oky dokey...lol

My Belkin wireless is starting to play up and has intermittent connections all the time.

I have a standard Bigpond 2Wire modem hooked up with the Belkin Wireless.

I just found a brand new Bigpond modem in my shed with a wireless adapter built inside. I recently got a static IP set up from Bigpond so my question is...

Do I simply install the driver that came with this Bigpond modem/wireless device thinngy, reconnect all of my wireless devices and everything will work hunky dorey or is it more advanced than that???

I simply cannot be bothered calling Bigpond and listening to someone who has no idea and cannot be understood properly...lol

I'm just a bit paranoid about installing the drivers which might stuff up my original settings???

I just don't want to ruin my current settings that's all.
