The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

    Re: td42 engine

    G-day mate.
Umm. Good luck finding a cheap 4.2 in good nick.
Your best bet would be a rebuild.
You can buy kits as the 4.2 are a sleeved block.
With a bit of common sense, mechanical knowledge and a mate you can easily do most the work yourself.
You'll just need the block head machined flat again as the selves will sit proud a little. And a slight hone won't hurt either.

But it should be about $2000 for a rebuild. Very cheap really..

Plenty of info here and if you get up to the 25 posts grab the manuals as they are a wealth of knowledge to assist you with repairs..

    Top start..
    Kits are here

A little more expensive than I last saw. But still $2500 should well and truly see the rebuild complete.
